I'm just wondering how many calories I should be getting? My first week post op I lost 11 pounds , this week the scale hasn't budged. My mom who has RNY says 1000 , I think she's crazy. I get 100 grams of protein keep my carbs under 35 mostly in the 20's but with cream soups they've been as high as 34 a day and I get my water and I walk 1.5 miles a day in mountains so up and down a dirt trail. Is this my body hanging on to conserve?? I am greatful to have lost what I have , I just don't understand why so fast , and then BAM nothing. What am I doing wrong ? Oh I eat 500-700 calories aday!
The body normally "rests" after a quick loss of weight and then starts back up again. I'm sure there's a big scientific explanation but I'll just call it "rest". Keep doing what you're doing, it sounds right to me.

The big scientific explanation has to do with glycogen and water retention....
Anyway, most programs these days say to keep calories under 800 and protein between 70-90 (but higher if fine) and carbs under 40 g.
Some programs want you to ramp up to 1000-1200 ASAP and some programs push carbs and don'temphasis protein, but, from what I've seen people in those programs don't do as well and often don't get to goal.
