OT: Newest puppy

We lost our minds yesterday...started by taking 5 of the 7 cats into the vet for their rabies shots and checkups...the only reason it wasn't all 7 was 2 had already had theirs when they made trips for other issues. Anyway, we take all 5 back out to the car and I stay there while dh goes in to settle up the bill. (not as bad as we thought considerin it was 5 of them). He comes back out wanting me to go in and see this adorable puppy (she's actually 2 years old) that was being given up by her owner free to a good home...

Yeap, we now have another dog in the house...wasn't sure it was gonna work yesterday cause she and Conner were being snappish at each other and with her weighing in at a grand 8 lbs and Conner weighing 22...it was not an even match. Anyway, almost 24 hours later, they are all outside happily playing with each other. All FOUR of them!

Her name was Ava but now her name is Chloe!.

Chloe & Lucy while they wait their turn to go outside to potty.

And here she is in my arms (Lucy is watching from the floor)...I was trying to get her to look into the camera. They had just come in to eat this evening:

Thanks, Eliza...

Yeah, with 11 feline and canine members in this house, their food/cat litter/toys/etc exceeds what we spend on US!!!

Cute!  I consider animals in the same category of grandkids.  I love'em better if they go home with someone else!

Congrats on your new babies!

Now I don't feel so bad about my little addition.  I've kept it quiet because I am afraid people will think I am an animal hoarder but after JJ died I got a strong urge for a baby.  I wound up getting 2 kittens but I got a call not long after that about a dog I had inquired about who needed re homing.  They wanted too much money so I passed.  Well, I guess no one wanted to spend the money and they seemed anxious to get rid of him so they called and asked if I still wanted him.  Of course I had to go meet him.  He is just a doll so I said I would take him home for a few days to see how he got along with the others.  I barely got the words out and they were stuffing his stuff in my arms and pushing me out the door.  They couldn't wait to get rid of him.  They had him a year and a half and to obviously didn't bond with him.  They had a lot of reasons to find him a new home, busy at work, taking care of a grandchild, dog didn't get enough attention, but they sure didn't seem broken up about it.
Anyway, I just love the little guy even though he is a pain.  Maybe because of the lack of attention he had he is a handful but seems to be settling down finally.  He is a bundle of energy and him and the cats love playing and chasing each other.  He is little like JJ was and likes to be babied.
I now have 6 pets and I know it's a lot.  I kind of regret getting the kittens.  They are a lot more high maintenance then I expected.  They eat their weight in food every hour and poop like mountain lions.  I am always cleaning their litter box.  I think I was too impulsive because of my loss but they are here and we are getting along fine.
Anyway, here he is, Winston.

He is an expressive little guy.  He has a big smile that my son says makes him look like a hyena.
I have enough animals now.  One more pet and TLC will come knocking.
