So my first few days were awesome . Then yesterday I've been having terrible pains when drinking.  All day it feels like my sides are goin to explode. Sometimes I get a sharp pain in my left side, takes me a couple breaths to get a deep breath in. Is this normal? I'm scared I might have a leek? I take a PPI and I'm eating GasX like crazy. Also my diaphragm area feels like it has pressure on it too. I guess I feel like an over bloated balloon, getting ready to pop! I cannot get 64 ounces in a day , I get too full .  I will call my surgeon Monday , but to calm my nerves if any of you think this is normal or have advice let me me know.

It sounds like gas to me.  I remember not knowing what gas felt like - OMG!  And it lasted (for me) for about a week.

Mine moved around - and I didn't know what it was - thinking I was having back issues I went to the chiropractor, and it did help.  Not advocating you to do this, but just saying what worked for me.  I do think it would have passed soon though.

Hang in there!

Considering he probably "rubbed" your back in working on it, it would help. I found out that a back rub helped get rid of my gas.

Rocking while on the potty also helped mine.

I would still call the surgeon's office. Going backwards on the pain scale can be a sign of something serious too so you need them to rule it out.

How are you doing now? If it's not better call the surgeon's service and head to the ER. Keep us posted.

Well the burning stopped, I switched to plain water instead of flavored water. Now I've got tummy cramps like you get when you take Xlax.  like i can feel my intestines, then potty time. Weird. And each time I drink wonton soup broth I'm running to the potty 20 minutes later. I have stoppe everything except plain water for today. And till noon tomorrow ,see how I feel. Could it have been the Nesltle pure life Acai flavored water?  I am feeling much better gas / bloating wise.  I am still going to call the surgeon.

I don't remember pains like that but I do remember feeling everything going all the way through.  And getting a cold sweat when I had to poop.  Gas can be awful.  That was the hardest part of some of my other abdominal surgeries althought this one wasn't bad.

I do think I might call the surgeon still. Just to be safe. My tummy still aches after I drink something. Anyway I'm feeling sleepy again,, so thanks everyone.

As far as drinking goes, I couldn't do cold for quite a while.  Room temp or warm.  That may help along with small sips, about one ounce every 15 minutes.

My hospital discharge papers had a phone number I could call for any concerns, and I called once for back pain. You might see if you can call them, they usually have nurses available 24/7 to answer questions.

I had a lot more pain a few days later from gas and back pain too. I walked and it helped. There was no way I could get in 48 oz let alone 64oz. it was way too much for me.

I hope your pain subsides soon!
