3 Year Labs

Here are my three year labs.  Let me know what you think.  I do take a B complex every day, do you think I should drop this or go to every other day since it is pretty high?

He recommended I drop the D3 since I do the Calcium Chews every day and it has gotten over 100.  I had dropped it to every other day.

I hope this will post correctly where you can read it.

Thanks
Linda

Not an expert by any means but your iron looks like it's trending down, especially your Ferritin.  Might want to increase it.  Same with your protein numbers.  Still in a good range but going the wrong direction.  I would increase your protein shakes.  Your liver enzymes are high.  Mine are, too.  Don't know why but it's not unusual I guess for WLS patients.  I am trying milk thistle to see if that helps.  I don't see a lot here like PTH or Vit. A, etc.  Gina has a link to Vitalady's recommended labs.  Doctors don't usually check enough.  I'm not seeing the B levels you were talking about, either, but mine were high, too.  My doctor finally told me to stop the B complex and just take what was in my multivits for now.  Of course B12 can be high with no problems.  None of the B vits will cause a problem since you just pee out the excess so it won't hurt to keep taking them, just wasing money.  Don't quit the D3 completely.  I just cut mine back to weekly for now.

Thanks, I am taking the milk thistle and have been on it for a couple of years.  I've had every test by my PCP to find out why the high liver enzymes - everything is fine.  The PA told me last year not to worry about it some people just have them after WLS.

I was taking the D3 every day but after they told me to stop, I went to every other day because I don't want the number to get so low and I have to get it back up.

I like the B12 up high because if I don't take it I can tell a big difference in how much energy I have.

I agree with Tazz and her recommended vitamin tweaks. Keep taking the B12 and cut the B-complex. Reduce the D3 but don't stop it. I don't like that the calcium came up while your D3 was up. You really need the PTH. I'd say take more calcium + mag cit + boron and vitamin K2--all for bone health. Good job. Not bad looking levels.

Thanks for looking at these Gina.  I appreciate all your help on these.

I was taking the Slo-Mag because I have been having bad leg cramps when I run.  Been taking it for about 6 months now and can't see a lot of difference.  He told me that I should not be taking the Slo Magnesium because it is harder to absorb with the surgery type I had and that I need to get regular magnesium.

What is boron?  I am suppose to get my bone density scan in September.

I usually take 6 of the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Chews spaced out.  What kind of calcium do you use.  I tried the Bariatric Advantage Chewable tablets and they were horrible.  So, is there something I can take to the get Calcium, Mag Cit & boron all together or are these all separate?

I use Vitalady's magnesium citrate capsules and I take one with every calcium dose. Boron is another mineral that's supposed to help calcium absorption. I take Vitalady's calcium citrate in capsule form. All separate.

In my small amount of knowledge, I agree with the others except I would keep your D3 where it is.  I am trying to get mine back up now but I am sure the Nut today will tell me it is fine at 57.  The amazing thing is that some of this is starting to make sense to me.

I am not going to stop the D3.  I remember reading how hard it is to get back up.  Back in June when they told me it was high, I dropped it to every other day.  Maybe I can get my PCP to check it in January.  She is so funny about what labs she will do for me!!

LOL-this is still like running into a brick wall for me, for some reason none of it makes sense still!!  That's why I'm so glad we have this board.
