Cold feet?????.....Confused
I am not sure if I am just confused or I am getting cold feet. I don't have my surgery date as of yet but I do see the surgeon on the 16th. this will be my second visit with him.
The thing is I am 5' and I weighed 184 lbs. the last weigh-in and my pre-surgery weight should be 175 leaving me to lose 40lbs to 50lbs. to lose. I know it's not a whole lot to lose but I want to have the surgery because I have diabetes. It was out of control when I first started the program my A1C was 8.9 it is now at 6.5 without medication and I did it with only diet and exercise. The medication for diabetes makes me really, really sick.
I am really scared of having the surgery and something going wrong, like leakage or that I won't be able to sustain food...
But I also think of the future what if in a couple of years my diabetes gets out of control again?
I am hoping someone can shed some light.....
Thanks.......

Have you considered the duodenal switch? That's your best option for long term diabetes resolution. You'd have to get a vetted DS surgeon. They're listed on dsfacts.com
Good luck.

Complications are rare but they to happen. We all think they will not happen to us but they happen to someone. For those of us who had surgery, the rewards were greater than the risk. Yeah, we could loose weight, but we managed to gain it back each time. Now we have a fighting chance of keeping it off.
In the end, you have to be the one to make the decision. We will be here to support you no matter what.
