Good Morning. Support Group Protein Tasting Report

We got rave reviews from the dietitian about how we manage our protein intake. She says hats off to you successful lightweights whether you're doing your protein with food alone or a combo of protein shakes and food!

I printed off our recent thread where you guys contributed your protein shake recipes and told her about our habits of drinking protein shakes even after a year post-op. She's good with that. She says let your labs and the scale be your guide and if shakes keep you from grazing, go for it.

She and the group loved my protein coffee, protein chi tea and strawberry mousse with Barlean's Omega 3 peach mango. We also tried Quest and JayRobb cashew / coconut protein bars. Learned that if you nuke those Quest and JayRobb bars for about 15 seconds in the microwave, they're awesome.

Y'all are doing great!

The last food plan I got from my Nut included 1 protein drink and when we talked, she was fine with my 3-4.  Again, it is working, why mess with it.  Now if they could figure out my calcium/PTH/D3.

did good at my picnic last night.  I did eat some chips and a piece of a brownie but stayed away from the pasta salad and buns, eating my hamburger with tomato slices.

Driving Chili this morning, work, then meeting at 2, Zumba tonight.  We have a guest instructor because ours is gone to a conference.  New trainers are always interesting because we won't know her routines and will be stepping all over ourselves and each other.

How can I find that link about all of your protein shake recipes? I am a planner and want to get a head start on knowing what works, tastes great, etc.

I would get protein samples and not buy alot before surgery because your taste will change after surgery.   I love all kinds of things now that I would never eat before surgery and some of my favorite foods I don't like anymore.

But it is good to have the recipes marked.    Here is the link to that posting:

Brew a cup or so of strong chai tea. I use Twinings Chai Tea Ultra Spice tea bags.

In a 20oz blender bottle with wire ball, blend 1 scoop of Nectar vanilla protein powder, with 1 packet of Truvia, about a 1/4 tsp of cinnamon, 3oz of 1/2 & 1/2 and 3oz of water. Shake to blend and pour into a large mug. Add the strong chai tea and stir.

****
In a 20oz blender bottle with wire ball, blend a Tblsp of Barlean's omega 3 peach mango swirl, 6 oz of ice water, 6 oz of 1/2 & 1/2 and 1 1/2 scoops of Nectar strawberry mousse protein powder. Shake to blend and enjoy.
