When needing to set new goals....

Well, I am here. Two pounds past my original goal. I am 153 now at 5'7" and well within a normal BMI. I just keep thinking " ok, now where do I go?" I do have some more I could lose. It just feels odd to be here trying to think of where I want to be. When did you guys know when to stop?

I originally wanted to get to 103, but was looking very thin at 107 and wearing between a 0 - 2..  My body kind of refused to lose anymore around that point, so I stuck with that as my new goal.

I'm all for letting my body choose where I need to be. My mind keeps telling me I need a number. I know it sounds dumb!

Just let your body decide.  A goal is just a number.  You may be surprised at where you end up.  Your body won't lose too much - you may look gaunt for awhile, but it redistributes after a year or so and you'll look fabulous!

Don't try to force your body to stop - take advantage of your "honeymoon period" and lose as much as you can, so you have a safety net for bounce back... trust me...

I was thrilled at the top of a normal BMI, 124 and never thought lower than that was even a possibility.  I got as low as 111 which did seem low.  the charts say 114 is "ideal" for me.  I have leveled out around there.  I just kept on keeping on.  I let my body decide and now I seem to be ending up 115-117 most of the time.  When I inch past that, I really get serious again and come back down.

I know my hubby keeps asking how I stop the weight loss and I tell him it's my body's choice. He is nervous for me and all I can do is Marvell over the changes. My thighs have NEVER been this slender before.

I set my goal weight right in the middle of the normal BMI range, which for a 5'1" tall person was 115 pounds. It took me several months to get the last 5 pounds off but finally did it at 11 months post-op. Stayed there for a few months, then bounced up 3 pounds and stayed there for a few more months. Bounce back and a little regain does happen. The good news is you will redistribute and get some of the fat layer under your skin back and you won't look so much like a melted candle.

Would love to pick where the bounce back goes! The girls are starting to go on their own journey.

My personal goal was a normal BMI, 132 pounds high end.  When I got there I wanted to go a little lower for bounce back.  Now I want to stay below 128.  I never made a concious effort to stop loosing, I guess my body did it for me.

I would just keep doing what you are doing and not try to stop the weight loss by eating more or adding bad carbs into your diet.

Good luck.

Linda
