Hi,  I am a newbie, and have been approved  to  start my WLS surgery journey.  I want to make sure I am in  the right place, though - Who is this forum for?

Hi, welcome, and congrats on your decision to have WLS

The peeps on here are awesome, you can't find a friendlier, more helpful or welcoming board anywhere!  As far as I know, this board is open to anyone!!!!

I don't know the exact definitition, but basically a lightweigt is a WLS person who has less weight to lose, maybe 100+ lbs or less?  I'm sure someone else with more info will chime in and answer that.

I was 237 when I had my revision surgery and was considered a lightweight.  I had 107 lbs to lose to get to goal.

Hope this helps!

We welcome everyone who likes it here but most of us started the journey with less than 150 pounds to lose or somewhere in the neighborhood between 35 and 40-ish BMI--some more, some less. :)

Well, I guess I am in the right place!.  I have 90 pounds to loose, and  was acceped yesterday into the Wellstar program, with Dr. Jean- Pierre.  I have my appointment on Tuesday to decide between the Sleeve and RNY.  I am very excited.  Since I am self pay, ( i work for a small company who does not have the bariatric rider)   I can get a surgery date relatively quickly.
I have been lurking on this website for months,  but when i came across this message board yesterday,  you guys seemed really nice. So I am glad i am in the right place. !
I look forward to getting to know you guys.

Welcome!  The good news is, lightweights can be successful with any of the surgeries, you just have to decide based on the pros and cons that fit you best. Do your research and don't take everything your surgeon's practice says at face value...trust but verify. :)

I'm glad you found us too!  No one understands having WLS when you are a LW like our group does.

Try to find out as much as you can about the Sleeve and RNY so you can make the best choice for yourself.   Post and ask any questions you might have.  Our LW board is represented by every surgery type.
