Ok, since y'all didn't get into my post about tweaking my vitamins yesterday, let's do a fun one. In order now, give us a word that describes your WLS or journey towards your goals.

Example: "A" is for "Angel".  My angel is a blessing. She helped me through the pre-op phase and set me on the right path towards being a healthy post-op.

Next.

Y'all have a great Thursday. :)

B is for "be ready.". There are lots of things to be ready for.

Surgery - pick the right one for you
Vitamins - the rest of your life
Protein- you need to be ready to eat differently the rest of your life not just until you lose weight
Stalls - they usually happen
Victories - you will have plenty of these
Maintenance - use your first year to CHANGE your eating and exercise habits

Most of all be ready to enjoy your new life and leave time in it for your support here that you will need.

Linda

C is for Change.

CHANGE your eating habits before surgery.  Don't drink with meals, drop the sodas and caffiene.  Eat slowly, chew very well.  Eliminate white carbs.  It will make post-surgery much easier if you aren't changeing everything at once.  Most of us have 6 months from decision to surgery, use it productively.

CHANGE your food post surgery according to your plan.  Understand that many Drs have different ideas about what you can eat when but in the first few months, listen to what your Dr is saying.  He has a reason and just because Susi came home on real food, if you plan says full liquids for a week, do it.

CHANGE your diet during the first year so that it is a pattern you can stick with for life.  This whole thing isn't just about losing weight, it is about the rest of your life.  Set new habits and mindset so that you can be successful not just in losing but it keeping it off for ever.

Be ready to CHANGE your entire wardrobe.  You will probably even change shoe sizes.  Don't buy too much of anything because you for sure won't wear anything out.  Find out the good thrift stores in your area and support them with clothes coming and going.

E is for Effort - it required a lot of effort to be successful in maintenance - also to get through the pre-op process!

It also is an effort to learn new eating habits - it's something you have to be consciously aware of.

E-E-E is for EDUCATE, EDUCATE and then EDUCATE some more!!!  Do your own research and explore all of your options.  Don't settle...this is for the rest of your life!!!

With that said, B is for BLESSING.  My WLS is a BLESSING!!  It's not a cure and it's not foolproof, but then I'm not Wonder Woman.  I'm only human and WLS is only a tool.  I am happy that I've been blessed with this tool...just a little regretful that it's taken me so long to realize that one tool does not a toolbox make!!!!!  So 4 years out and trying to lose a little bounce back and clean up my act I will be emptying out my toolbox and using all the tools available to me to get the job done and done right!!!  Remember along with the tools come rules.  This could get a little dangerous (carb detox), I better put on my safety glasses now!!!

Lastly MM is for Major Mom (Gina) who is all things WLS and so much more!!!!  Matter of fact, she is one of those tools in my toolbox I referred to along with the rest of the LWs.

Have a great day y'all!!!!
