Good Morning. Do you set goals?

If you do set goals how do you go about achieving them? I remember hearing that a a goal without a strategy and milestones is only a dream. I think I need to re-look my goals and work on strategies and milestones. If my goal is to lose 5 or 10 pounds of regain weight, how am I really really going to do that? Stay tuned-- will post more as I firm up my plans.

That's where I'm at now.  I want to lose 10 lbs.  I know what my goal is, but how do I do it? I know surgery helped us lose it because we had a small pouch, couldn't eat much, had the malabsorption to help, and I just wasn't hungry for the first 5 months.  Now we have to go back to the "old way" of thinking about getting the weight off.

I still know what the WLS plan is - and I'm sure if I adhered to it like I did before, the weight would come off.

Let me know what you figure out

I love the quote abut strategy and milestones.  That is so true.  Goals require action.  I always find I am successful when my goals are accomplished by setting and completing  incremental stepping stones used to form the goal itself.

I have been setting goals with my running.  My goal was to do the Peachtree in less time than last year - ok I did that - now I haven't run in a week!!  So do I need to set another goal - I don't understand why I can't just do this without having a goal out in front of me.  I like to do it, I feel better when I do it, but I just don't do it unless their is a reason coming up for it.

I guess I need to find another race in the future so I'll get back out there.

As far as food, I guess my goal is to keep the scale where it is.  I weigh each morning so that is my motivating factor for the day.  I have let a lot of bad stuff back into my diet this last week and have not been updating my menus each day.  Night time has been horrible along with no exercise - I know where this is headed!!  Time to nip it in the bud.

Can't wait to read your strategy!!

I'm happily discovering that I , a lifetime-long " excess food  addict " and " emotional eater "
is just NOT INTERESTED  in excess food anymore !

that is to say .. i FUEL my ( 135 lb ) body and no more !!

have I somehow ( please believe me - it was God's will not anything I did ) amazingly , unbvelievably  , magically transformed into a non-food interested NORMIE  4 years post op ?!! WOW !!!

and now the question is .. do I still accept a DS ?  I mean I am TOTALLY HEALTHY , at a normal /slim attractive weight ...but other people ( like my Agent , Husband , Manager etc( WOULD like to see me maintain 20 lbs thinner

DOES being REALLY  skinny REALLY make one happy ?  I KNOW  hubby's NOT happy with wifey not making money ....

DH should want you healthy and that's it. Otherwise, he should support you in the things you want to pursue. You seem to have an awesome green thumb that might make you more than fashion in the years to come. If you can teach us suburbanites and city-dwellers how to create sustainable gardens in small areas, for example.

I set goals Gina.  One is to never venture into overweight gain. That would be 146 for me,  I weigh daily and currently have a range of 141-143.  I would like to get that into the 139 range.  I've been hiking 35-40 miles a week and eating less than 1200 calories a day. No sugar, grains and flour only for an occasional treat.  I can't budge the scale down but I will keep trying.  I also go to WW once a week to weigh because I won't be able to be in denial about that scale.

I set goals for the ponies.  Poppy had to be fit enough to pull me up and down the mountains at Blowing Rock and she was.  Chili has to have 3 trots by the end of Sept for our pleasure show (slow, working, fast).

My goal is to not get above 117.  Being here, logging on M&M with Roz, weighing daily, using the tracker when I get close to that are my stratgies.  I am also going to make another appt with the personal trainer to get some new things to work on for the next couple of months.  Seems like I need to stay aroung 1200-1300 with my normal exercise and keep my carbs less than 50 to stay in my range.
