Ok, so I've read a million of these kind of posts and knew that someday it would be me.  I feel like crying.

I have less than a wee****il surgery, the bypass.  My date is July 2nd

I'm 234, 5'2, 33 yrs old no co-morbs (now).  AM I DOING THE RIGHT THING???

I am totally freaking out... I had dreams about it all last night.  to boot, I haven't bought any protein shakes.  I don't know if I subconsciously procrastinated this  or what.  My local store (wegmans) has a ton in their organic section and regular section.  I need to go there today, but I started reading other peoples posts on protein, now I'm thinking I should have spent much more time prepping for the pro ten shakes.  Ugh.

also I was up alllll night with a knock down migraine or sinus headache.

Can you take pregnisone after the bypass?

I have my pre-op appt. tomorrow.

ok.. my thoughts are all over the place right now.
Just had my RNY on 7.2.12!!!!  WOOHOO!!!!!

AWE....I feel bad that you are freaking out.  You are about to experience the most exciting ride you have ever been on!   I'm over 3 years out and  I've only had one regret...I waited until I was in my 50's to have surgery!  At 33 years old you are the age of my daughters and if they were over weight I would encourage them every minute of every hour to have WLS.

I can't wait to share in this exciting journey with you!  Keep us posted!!!!

I wouldn't go out and buy a lot of protein drinks.  This might sound strange but for several months your taste buds might be out of wack.  For awhile everthing tasted extremely salty, sour, and sweet to me.  Things I loved before surgery just didn't taste the same.  I don't remember how long it lasted but eventually everything got back to normal.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

I was o****il they had me in the operating room and then I was freaking out, luckily they put me to sleep pretty quickly!!  Best decision I ever made and I am thrilled with my results.

Just make sure you are ready for the lifestyle change and for your vitamins and other things you need to take care of yourself for the rest of your life.

I bet you have tried diets and other things to lose weight.  You might even lose weight, just not keep it off.  WLS gives you a chance to retrain yourself and make better habits.  Take this time to do this.

You can order protein samples from vitalady.com.  I would not buy a large container or any kind until you have tried it after your surgery.  Most everyones taste changes for a while anyway.

Good luck.  Can't wait to follow your journey.

After I made the decision, I never looked back.  I was so ready and nothing else had worked.  This had to be the answer and for me, it was.  I just wish I had done it sooner.  I missed a lot because of my weight.

It is a different life, especially in the beginning.  Now I feel pretty normal and I never had any complications.  I am rid of all my co-morbidities and feeling great.

Put an order in with Vitalady for samples and then hang on for quite a ride.  You have us here to help.

Hi,

How are you feeling today? Did it help to do the pre-op work or make it worse?

My RNY was 3 1/2 years ago. I too never looked back. I LOVED my RNY, and still do! For the first time in my life I could eat like a bird, not crave sweets, and lost wieght, and more weight and felt good about myself and loved to live life, and did I say I never regretted a minute! The ONLY thing I regret is the honeymoon is defintly over and now I must remember how to keep this weight off. I need to remember the hoops I had to jump through to get this surgery. I was one driven person on a quest for the one last ditch effort to be a normal weight. I was so tired of being fat.

Now I am forever grateful. You should, IMHO, want this more than anything. If you want this tool, you will power through the first week, it's no picnic, then the second week, ah much better, and by then you will be cruis'in. Ultimately you need to be sure you wnat this more than anything, then go for it and never look back. You deserve this, you have fought for it. Now embrace it as your life saver!!!

Hi again,

A day closer now, whooowho!!! You are a lucky person to get this wonderful tool. Do everything exactly as they tell you to and you'll be fine. Relax, let the meds and the nurses take care of you, walk you heart out as soon as you can. You know about the pillow to have in the car for the ride home?

I haven't written much on OH for a long time. I used to live on this site before and after my RNY. I learned more from here than I did any where else. I even had an angel from the RNY board who called me on my way to the hospital that morning. It meant the world to me. You are going to do great. If there is anything you still aren't sure about don't hesitate to post.

Mari
