Good Morning. Who has tried Carb Quick?
I made Swiss steak using gluten free Bisquick and I was wondering if anyone uses Carb Quick as a flour substitute. I see Netrition carries it and the carb count is really low. Not sure how my body would handle it if it isn't gluten free but it might be worth a try.
Out next support group is about making low carb substitutes in regular recipes. Do any of you have some good recipes with low carb / low sugar subs you'd like to share?
I have a busy Monday lined up. Y'all have a good one!

I haven't tried Carb Quick. I used the Adkins low carb stuff a few times but it taste funny. I think they use soy instead of wheat flour so it should be gluten free.
The carb changing things that come to mind immediately are using califlower for pizza crust and for a fake mac and cheese and using spagitti squash instead of pasta, lettuce leaves for wraps instead of tortillas. I use sweetners in almost all receipes these days instead of sugar. I don't taste any difference after years and years of artificial sweetner use.
No meetings today but phone and paperwork. We were visiting a friend for dinner last night and a tree fell on our car during a brief rain/wind event. We are both covered by the same insurance and there was almost no damage so it hopefully won't be an issue. It looked horrible with the tree sitting on it but luckily, they had a tractor and we could get it off and low and behold, it was basically fine. Broken windshield and a dent. That's it.

I'd be very careful with CarbQuick in your case, Gina, given your intolerance of gluten.
We've already had a busy morning here...little Miss Lucy (one of our Chihuahua/Jack Russel mixes) is getting fixed. She was NOT a happy camper this morning since they had her on nothing to eat or drink after 8PM last night. She is suppose to be ready late afternoon unless they keep her overnight.

Gina,
I use it all the time. I don't think it is gluten free. Here is the link to the nutrition information from their official website: http://www.tovaindustries.com/carbalose/nutrition.html
It kind of has a bitter taste that you have to get used to. It doesn't bother me anymore at all. I love making the carbquik cinnamon rolls and using the Laughing Cow Cinnamon Cream Cheese as the topping. I also use it with the swiss steak that I cook and it makes a good crust for chicken pot pie. It is better when you use butter with it.
The box has several recipes and then they have a website that has lots of recipes. Also like someone said earlier there are recipes using it on Bariatric Foodie(Cleopatra Nik on the RNY Board).
I like it much better than the Atkins mix, but I have not tried the gluten free Bisquick.

I have not used the carbquick but have been curious. I bought the Atkins mix but did not like it the one time I used it instead of flour in an egg bake recipe that I make almost every week.
FINALLY found a low carb pizza recipe...I have missed pizza and tried the cauliflower pizza crust recipe (it went immediately in the garbage), tried making pizza on wraps (didnt care for it) and tried the pizza chips (okay BUT still not pizza)
Found the following recipe on a facebook group I belong to and for it being low carb it was pretty good....

Linda, the cinnamon rolls always sound so yummy when you talk about them. I havent eaten anything like a muffin since a bad experience once with Price's flax muffin.
