I have a question.I am trying to jump start my weight loss again after 3 yrs. I am doing protein drinks all day but was wondering if about 10 boiled shrimp would be alright during my 7 day restart. Thanks for any advise.

I personally think a totally pure liquid protein diet is not very healthy at 3 years out to get you restarted.  What you really need is to go back to the basics including a very high protein diet and making it extremely low carb and low fat but you food and not just protein shakes.    Doing that, yes, you will lose weight but it can also cause you to gain your weight back as soon as you starft to eat foods again.  Be very careful

Try having 5 or 6 very small meals per day - all high protein, but you can add vegetables.  Some people will add a piece of fruit during this stage but it isnt necessary - you will lose more weight without but you wont get all your nutrition and you could become constipated without it.

It is best to eat every 2 to 3 hours and with high protein this will increase your  metabolism, maintains a constant sugar level without the constant ups and downs - the longer you go without foods, the more of a fluctuation you will have in your glucose levels and it will also help you lose weight faster. You wont be hungry all the time..  By going 5 or 6 hours between meals, you are going to be hungry all the time and this really messes up your metabolism.

With each meal, you can have some vegetables, not high carb ones and a small salad but with sugar free and fat free dressing or just olive oil.

You can still have shakes a couple of times per day, just not as your only nutrition.

And this is my opinion with my experiences.  I do hope this helps you

When we were on our 4 week pre-op diet, it was 5 Optifast shakes a day and one small food meal that was 1 fruit, 1/2 c veggie, 3-4 oz protein.  The food made it less boring, more tolerable and kept everything moving internally.  I would think adding some lean protein and leafy veggies would be fine.

I would think the shrimp would be a great choice.  I agree with the others that I would do the small 5-6 meals a day and have some meat/veggies also.

Are you drinking with your meals?  If so, I would stop that first.  Any exercise?  If not, I would try to do a little something.  Roz posts a daily Menus and Miles where we can post our meals.  There is also a Sunday weigh in post that Liz does to help us all stay accoutable.

I am posting a weekly maintenance post to help us stay on track and get back on track - please join us!!  There are a lot of us in maintenance and we can use all the help we can get.

Good luck - hope you will stay with us and post your progress.
