Frustrated Band to RYN
Is there anyone on this lightweight board that has had a revision from band to RYN? The first month I did great, but the last four weeks I've only lost 5 lbs. Thats a total of 22 lbs. My doctor says I'm doing good and not to compare my weight loss to others but, its really difficult when I see others loosing 15-20 lbs a month and this is only my second month...I guess I expected to have lost at least 10 lbs the second month.
She said I'm going to be a slower looser because I'm a lightweight AND because I'm a band revision. I just wish I could get on with my life and quit focusing on loosing weight...
I am doing everything my NUT is telling me, which is 700 -800 cals, 80 protien and 64 oz liquid.
Question: Could eating beef jerky be causing a problem with the high sodium content? Just trying to up my protien...

Yes, the beef jerky could be causing you to retain water.
Also, how's your exercise?

I know it's frustrating to lose slowly but believe me, in the end it doesn't matter how fast or slow the weight comes off as much as it does learning to live with maintenance. Losing slowly will help you in that regard. Remember, the average weight loss window after a RNY is 12 to 18 months so you are well within that range. Even if you only lose one pound a week you can still reach your goal and learn to eat in a way that is comfortable to you and will enable you to keep the weight off. That is what really matters.

We all want it gone right now. but as Tazz said, we really have the rest of our lives to live, not just this time when we are losing. Learn to eat in a manner you can continue forever. Yeah, at maintainance, you will add a few calories but it may be very few to stay where you want to be. We are in it for life, not just for the honeymoon period. You are doing great. Just keep on keeping on.
I will say that getting my protein to over 100g and keeping my carbs around net 30 allowed me to never stall and keep losing, no matter how slowly. And as a lightweight, really, don't expect 15-20lbs a month. 7-10 is wonderful and after a few months it will be more like 4-7. We lose the same percentage of excess weight as our heavier friends, it just seems less because the numbers are low.
