OT Topamax? XPost
I did do a search but I wanted to hear other people's experience with Topamax. My pain doctor just prescribed it for my head and neck pain. I'm a little concerned about memory loss, which I heard is a common side effect. I am wondering if the doctor even listened to me. I was just finished telling her that I was concerned about how bad my memory has gotten lately and she goes and prescribes a medication known for having that side effect.
My other concern is that I don't think what I have is migraines. I really think it has to do with the mild degenerative disk disease and bulging disk that they say shouldn't cause problems but seem to for me, anyway. The pain started when I was exercising and got worse when I went back to it.
Anyway, I am going to PT next week and having a sleep study again and then she will send me to someone to see about Botox injections and a nerve block. The Botox isn't for wrinkles unfortunately but it's supposed to help the pain. Anyone have experience with those things, too?

Tazz, I was on Topamax from 2002 to 2011, neurontin (your previous med) screwed me over far worse in the memory dept than the Topamax ever did. If I needed to go back on it tomorrow, I would do it without batting an eye! Give it a try.

my son has been on it for years for a 2nd seizure med. He was having break through seizures with just one med. He's IDD but never complains about it and it didn't wipe him out in the beginning like some have done in the past. One of my staff's sons has been on it for headaches and it worked for him.
I hope it is not the exercising. That would be ashame since it can also have such positive benefits for health and mental health. But not if you are in pain. I know.

Okay, curious and personal question based on recently watching one of these PS tv docu-reality shows...
How top heavy are you after your weight-loss?
one lady on the show had a Breast Reduction after her boobs being very large and shoulder straps on her bra cutting into her skin AND backaches and horrible headaches. Any possible connection for you?
Feel better and I hope you find what will work best for you!

Not too personal and a good question. I never thought about it but I did get implants and I feel like I got them way too big. I even spoke with a plastic surgeon about getting them removed but it was too expensive and insurance wouldn't cover it but I wonder if that may be the problem? I don't have shoulder straps digging into my skin because I only wear Genie bras because they are the only bras that are somewhat comfortable and I like the way they support me and minimize my chest. The straps are wide so they don't dig. I will ask the PT next week when I go if that could cause a problem. Thanks for suggesting it.
