thin skin

I'm pretty tough emotionally but my skin has gotten very thin.  I have several places where, in just my normal activities, I have sliced through my outter layer and ended up bleeding and bruised.  My left hand looks like it was caught in a meat grinder and really, it is just from moving the carriages and harness in and out of the trailer and from my friends dog (I think it was the dog's collar that got me).  I know DH has very thin skin but he is on steroids for COPD and is 6 yrs older than I am.  At 63 is this just old age or am I missing some vit or min I should be getting?  I don't think it was this bad before surgery but then again, I was 2 yrs younger.

How's your protein serum, albumin and prealbumin? Also, zinc and vitamin A? Those are about all the vitamin/mineral/nutritional related things I can think of.

Iron and ferritin?

Those all look pretty good. Perhaps it is just age with us. One thing Vitalady does that many of us don't is she take one of those tubes of collagen based protein everyday. I know when I was pre-op, I got super strong nails, hair and skin drinking those. Thinking I might start slurping one of those suckers down every day.

I'll be 59 next week Price and my skin is very thin too.  My levels have always been good and I take extra Vitamin A.

Yup, tissue skin.  Me too.  I'm 62 and had surgery a couple years ago.  I think it's just age.  Yesterday I was idly scratching an itch on my arm while reading the 'puter screen, and today I've got an angry collection of red dots where the itch used to be.

beautiful ladies ..please try L- Arginie capsules taken 1/2 hour before bedtime to thicken the skin and make it more resilient .

alll amino acids ARE is the components of a turkey sandwich ... but separated to allow better absorption thru the blood/brain barrier .

MANY  southern ladies have thin-skin issues later in life due to the power of the blazing Southern sun...U NEED to regenerate/make Ur skin act younger and be  thicker ... and arginine IS the key to that

I looked it up and I think we should be getting this through all our shakes but with our crazy malabsorption, who knows. Good idea to check out.

Dietary sources

Arginine is a conditionally nonessential amino acid, meaning most of the time it can be manufactured by the human body, and does not need to be obtained directly through the diet. The biosynthetic pathway however does not produce sufficient arginine, and some must still be consumed through diet. Individuals who have poor nutrition or certain physical conditions may be advised to increase their intake of foods containing arginine. Arginine is found in a wide variety of foods, including[5]:

  • Animal sources
dairy products (e.g., cottage cheese, ricotta, milk, yogurt, whey protein drinks), beef, pork (e.g., bacon, ham), gelatin , poultry (e.g. chicken and turkey light meat), wild game (e.g. pheasant, quail), seafood (e.g., halibut, lobster, salmon, shrimp, snails, tuna)
  • Plant sources
wheat germ and flour, buckwheat, granola, oatmeal, peanuts, nuts (coconut, pecans, cashews, walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pinenuts), seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower), chick peas, cooked soybeans, Phalaris canariensis (canaryseed or ALPISTE)

What arginine does , in short ,is make ya look YOUINGER . Far more effective than CREAMS  lol.

now it PROBABLY  works on the insides too to make them smoother and more effective.... but I can only attest to the cosmetic benefits .
