Shopping...

I haven't posted about shopping in quite a long time (I used to have a fashion post) because I had to QUIT buying clothes!  For those that weren't around when I did those posts, it was a lot about the bargains and NSV's we had when shopping for clothes.  My closet attests to it...

I decided I needed some new shirts - dressier type of tanks to wear with skirts.  I almost wear dresses or skirts exclusively now - I just find them SO much more comfortable.  Its because since I've put some weight on, I can't find any shorts that fit me.  If it fits my butt or hips, its WAY too big on my waist - and I'm not one who gets things altered...

Anyway - I digress... back to the shopping post.

I went to The Loft at the mall last night.  Remember - I'm a bargain shopper right?  Well I'm to the point where I'll spend a little more now to get something that fits nice.  They had an elastic waist 'swing skirt' I wanted to see and try on (found it online).  They didn't have the navy I wanted but a fuscia kinda color I didn't really care for.  I tried on a small and it was too big in the waist - they didn't have anything smaller.  So I decided I wasn't going to buy it - not a good enough price.  I did end up buying another skirt that I had to get in a 2 (REALLY???).  I also had to make myself buy a color versus the black - but the black looked so classy - but I've got to get out of the black rut...

I'm not bragging about sizes - but really - the vanity sizes have gotten WAY out of control.

I had to try EVERYTHING on.  I ended up with:

2 dressier tanks in Medium - buy 1 get 1
1 Sweater type dress in a Medium - NOT on sale
1 skirt in a size 2.. - NOT on sale

I put back 2 dresses that were too big and they didn't have smaller sizes of.  I tried a pair of capris that were laughable...

But - I signed up for their credit card (which I RARELY do) and they gave me 40% off!  She said I saved $70... that's with the buy 1 get 1... so just imagine how much those other 2 items were...

Then I went to Macy's - OMG - I was overwhelmed.  This is a BIG Macy's and EVERYTHING was on sale (or seemed to be, unless I wanted to buy it).  It was also kinda messy - so its hard for me to concentrate when there's so much clutter... I had to stick with "just shirts" so I didn't spend 4 hours there.

I ended up with:

1 lightweight white parka/rain coat - dressy $24.00 (yea, not a shirt)
1 dressy tank - $9
1 skort  - $12 (yea not a shirt)

I already have a skort I wear and love it.  Its comfy and I think flattering and got it at a thrift store for like $3.  This one is a size bigger, but it has the drawstring for the waist - and fits perfect.

Oh - I almost forgot about Victoria Secret.. yea.. I indulged there - first.

2 new bras - 1 really pretty one and 1 sensible one - cost:  more than it should have been and STILL was on sale

Then I had to go to Zales to get some rings checked.  I keep the warrantly up on them by having them inspected every 6 months.

Well of course while they're checking my rings, I look around... I find the sale stuff... and......

I have added yet ANOTHER ring to my collection.  I have so many now I didn't need another one - but I really really really liked it.  AND - I got it for a fabulous price....  I tried taking a pic of it, but it didn't turn out... but its quite unique.

Ok - I'm done rambling.  What shopping have YOU done lately - any great deals?  How about something you bought you just LOVE?  Any rants about vanity sizing?

Gosh Jody you did go shopping!!

I have had to stay out of the stores lately.  We are saving for a Disney trip in November.  I had bought so many shirts that my closet was getting full again.  I could use some more jeans, but I have the hardest time finding some that fit just right.

I did buy me a great pair of running shoes - my kids gave me a gift card.  I hate buying expensive shoes but know I need good ones.  They are the ASICS GT-2160 and I absolutely LOVE them!  My feet have never felt this good.  Now I'll never be able to go back to the cheap shoes again.

I'm going to my parents next week and I'm sure DD and I will hit the mall one day.  I need some more running shorts and shirts.  DH says I shouldn't wear the same outfit all week - it smells-LOL!!

I wish we could have gone shopping while I was up there.  I tried to leave DH at my BIL's but he didn't think I could get there by myself...

I need new shoes too... I've been putting it off because I don't know what to buy.  I'll check out what you have.

My closet is overflowing too.  I've taken quite a few things out and taken them to Goodwill.  My ex used to make me pledge to "get rid of one thing when I brought in something new".  Never would promise to do that....

I tried on jeans at the Gap last night.  UGH.  I can't find anything that fits anymore either.

the only jeans that fit me are the skinny jeans at the gap (Regular store, not the outlet)  and skinny jeans at Chico's Outlet. I am a much bigger size than you are but in comparison - I have really thin legs and no butt

I have become a flip flop nut, I have them in almost every color

I must be the strange one!  I used to LOVE shopping when I lost weight and now I really dont like it!!  I would buy all my clothes at New York & Co.  They are located across the hall from Lane Bryant and I always would admire there clothes.  But whenever I go in the store now, I dont like any of the styles.  I will buy my pants there cause they come in tall, but thats it.

So needless to say, the only thing I have bought lately is a pair of sandals.  I need some new outfits though.  Maybe I need a personal shopper, LOL

Sue - I'm right there with you!  I really am not that big on shopping anymore, because I DO have such a hard time getting stuff to fit...

I went into Express, NY & Co, Jones, Ann Taylor and couldn't find anything I really cared for either.

Haha - that's the ONLY thing I didn't buy - was shoes.  Loft had some online I really liked, but they didn't have them in the store and I refuse to buy shoes I haven't tried on.

I think we get in ruts with what we buy/wear.  I would LOVE a personal shopper but afraid they wouldn't have much patience for me :)

You are the queen, Jody.    I would have fallen in a heap before getting through all that.

My last trip didn't yeild anything too exciting but a few workout capris for 2.99 each and 2 shirts for 1.99 each at an outlet.  The price was definately right and I couldn't pass them up.

I hate this sizing thing.  I was somewhere and tried on some pants.  I have 4s that fit and 10s that fit.  You just have no idea what is and isn't going to wor****il you try it one.  I have small shirts that are huge and small shirts that are too tight to wear. Crazy.

I am at that point where everything I own is new!  Unfortunately, it all fits in a small suitcase.  I'm trying not to buy too much because I have some more losing to do.  I had to buy some shorts because it's summer.  $8 shorts at Walmart and some $5 Tshirts at Target make up the bulk of my casual clothes collection.  I did hit the Victorias Secret semiannual sale and now own 5-6 bras.  Two of which are just beautiful and very sexy.  $26 vs the usual $52, so I felt like I got a great deal.  I've gone down 4 underwear sizes now!  So they are all pretty and new.  I got some awesome capris at JCPenney for $11 for work.  JCPenneys has some decent prices on their Liz Claiborne collection.  I love to shop!  So if anyone needs a personal shopper, I'm here for you!!

Tonya - at the point you're at, it doesn't make sense to go out and buy a bunch of clothes.  This is the time where "less is more"  - LOL.

I also hit that VS sale!  I wasn't intending on it - but it called my name as I walked by.  The 1 bra I bought is real pretty - was still $46... but oh well... The other one was a periwinkle blue - cotton, very soft and functional.

I shopped at Penneys a LOT when I was losing weight.  I haven't been in there in ages.
