Going to Dulles Towncenter tonight after work. Need to get some rings checked out at Zales and I want to go to Loft and Express. Of course I'll shop around too... I also need to pick up some groceries. I'd like to hit the Trader Joe's over by you too - if there's enough time.
Where do you get your hair done at?

Other than that, more laundry and getting things ready for the camper since we're headed to St. Louis on Thursday to watch our White Sox play their Cardinals with friends!
Sadly, no running or long walking until we know what's up with the knee.

It helped me to think of the cyst as a cross between an inflatable tire and a honeycomb. It's oddly shaped, with lots of fluid filled chambers, and your body grows it to act as additional cushioning in the knee joint. Last time we didn't recognize what it was until it was a bit bigger than an egg (on the inside of the knee - the outside looked like I had a 12 inch softball in there). This time you can see the difference if you look at both knees, but it's nowhere near as large, even with two.
What they can do about it is ultrasound guided needle aspiration, where they use an ultrasound to find relatively larger chambers in the cyst and drain the fluid, in essence deflating the cyst. That didn't work for longer than about 8 weeks for me last time although it generally lasts about 6 months, BUT that was also when I was MO and had been walking on a severely crushed meniscus for 6 months before it was "shaved." After a couple years of trying the draining, and since I was unable to lose/keep off weight without working out and unable to work out because of the knee, they removed it. It required a j-shaped incision all the way across the bottom of the knee, up the side, and half way across the top, and then 2 weeks on crutches. Removal is considered a last-ditch tactic because it is likely to come back, but may be necessary if movement is significantly impaired.
I don't want to go either of those routes again. I'm going to be asking the ortho for a PT referral so that I can get knee stabilization exercises, and also have her advise me on the levels/kinds of exercise I should be doing to stay healthy without dealing with this repeatedly. I'm actually rather thrilled, however, that it took this long for it to become noticeable, which suggests (to me anyway) that my walking/running/skating will likely be ok. And - it means that I have a reason to NOT be shoving heavy boats around in wind and waves for the most part!
Got my fingers crossed! I see the ortho on Tuesday, and then will call for a PT appointment. I've got a good one I've used before... she knows my body, so it's a matter or making myself available when she works (she prefers to only work when her son is in school or camp, so she has limited hours). Unfortunately, even though I know I'll get the referral, the PT office won't schedule me until that referral is in the computer, so I'll need to wait.
On the positive side, the vascular tech who did the ultrasound said my vascular system in the legs was very strong and healthy, and there is no problem with blood flow. So that's good news.

I finished 3 weeks of staff minutes yesterday and have 1 more staff meeting minutes and 1 other meeting minutes to type and then I will be caught up!!! It will be finished today. I need to work on payroll as much as I can this week since I will be gone next Monday - Wednesday. We have to come back a day early next week because one of our funding agency has a meeting they are requesting we attend.... to talk about money for next year.
I need to run at lunch and pick up DH's fathers day present for the kids to give him since he wants oil and things for his tractor and the shop is here and neither of them will be here until Sunday.
Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm also trying to work with utilities from a distance for a rental property she owned. I've paid the bill three times now, but there's always some issue. The last one was that her bank denied payment - even though there is $2000 extra in that account, and the account is in the name of the trust..... I guess this is not my week for dealing with businesses....
As a result, I'm trying (not always successfully) to stay away from the sweets.
