I haven't seen your labs but zinc is on Vitalady's DS basic plan to the tune of 100mg a day. Some folks have trouble absorbing it and have to separate it from other vites, so let your labs guide you. :)

In some areas I am really good and others I am not so great. I know I was always great with it all but I have reasons for not taking some of them.

I stopped taking my multi because my vitamin A is in toxic range and only getting higher with every test.   No one can figure it out.  I was vitamin A deficient very early  out and started on 25,000 units daily and after a few months, it wasn't enough, I had to increase it to 50,000 units and I was fine for the next year and a half.  Then my 2 year anniversary hit and all hell broke lose.  I know you remember when I got sick and went into the hosptial for months and had multiple surgeries.  During that time, alot of my vitamins fell through the cracks while they were trying to save my life which I understand.  I do remember getting some IV vitamins including several banana bags which are multiple b vitamins, potassium, magnesium and I think it might have had some calcium also.  I also got my B12 shots.  But they didnt give me my vitamin A or D.  Eventually, my brother brought me my D but he couldnt find my A. So, when I got out my vitamin A was really low.  So, I went back on my old dose of 50,000 units daily which maybe I should have started at 25,000 units, I am not sure but within 3 months, my level was normal and  I thought all was fine but at each test, my level kept going up - at first I thought it was okay because I had room to go up and thought it was going up to the optimal level but then it went over the top.  So, I stopped it.  Had it tested again, it went up again.  3 months later, it went up again.  Still no supplementation and this time - I was not even taking a multi to see if that was the problem.  This last set of labs, it went up even higher - normal range is 38-98 and I am at 148 - it is crazy.  I have asked every doctor I go to including my surgeon, nutrititionist, endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, opthamologist, PCP - they all know about A deficiency but not toxicity and especially without ingestion.  It makes no sense.

So, at this point, I am really afraid to take any supplements with any vitamin A in it.

My calcium is pretty good except for when I am on cipro for my constant bladder infections, then it is impossible - cant take cipro within 6 hours of any calcium, iron, synthroid or magnesium products.  How is this possible in a 24 hour period?  Thank goodness this time I am on Macrobid which has no restrictions and hopefully it will work, find out in 7 days.

I take my B12 shots and vitamin D religiously.

I stopped absorbing my iron for some reason, so I started on IV iron about 3 weeks ago.  They were afraid to do them because about 10 years ago I was highly allergic to it.  I convinced them that it was different then, they used to do it with 1 gram of iron them and now they only use 200mg each.  They started really conservatively with 50mg, then 100mg and then 150mg.  Today I graduate to 200mg and keep your fingers crossed that all will go okay. I was having it done in the outpatient infusion center at the hospital where patient get there chemo so in case I had a reaction, they would be there to treat it.  Starting today, I get it done at the infusion center at the doctors office - so it will be much easier.  Each time I take major premeds.

I also take vitamin B1 - high dose.
