Good Morning. Does your closet look like a rainbow?

One of the things I did post-op as I added new clothes to my wardrobe was to sort the items by color. I don't know if this is weird or not, because until surgery I didn't have a lot of female friends, only work acquaintances. So, I have no idea if this is a good tried and true method or not. Anyway, now my closet starts with black, then browns, white, yellow, orange, red, green, blue and purple. I wish the drawers with my shirts and sweaters was that easy. {sigh}

Ok, so do you have a method to the madness that you call your closet? How do you sort yours? Do you sort yours at all? And, pre-ops, there are more colors to be worn beyond black. Trust me.   White pants anyone? Have you been brave enough yet?

I wore white shorts yesterday!

I organize my closet by type of clothing.  I can't keep up with colors.  I promised myself with my WLS that I would bring more color into my life and you can see it in my closet.  Black is hard to find these days.  most of my dark colors are my fall/winter pieces.

Happy Monday!

A few years ago when had a giant shelving unit built in the closet so 95% of my clothes get folded and put on shelves instead of hung.  Since I work from home and don't have to get dressed up much, it works for me.  I have stuff sorted by lenght of pants and sleeves, dressy or farm.  For years I shifted stuff that got stained or worn into the "farm" catagory but when I was losing weight, I ended up with nothing there because I didn't stay in it long enough to get it worn.  So last year, when one of the craft stores put their tshirts on sale for 5 for $10, I went and bought 5 in a rainbow of colors, to use for barn shirts.  Now they are needing to be replaced but I'm kind of enjoying them being big and baggy, size M, and not sure what size I want to replace them with.

I do have white pants, longer and capris.  And I do wear a lot more color than I used to.  Everything used to be jeans and light blue tops.  Now I have red, pink, purple, yellows, oranges, all shades of green along with the blues.

Hi Gina,

I used to wear alot of dark colors...now I hate them!!  I have gotten myself almost to where I would like to be weightwise, so my closet has become a rainbow of colors, and I couldnt be happier!!  I have alot of oranges, pinks, peach, and blues...I even splurged and bought a white pair of capris....Blacks and dark colors seem to have their place,  towards the end of my closet!!  Have a wonderful week, Everyone!!!!

Yes - I've got white jeans I've already worn a few times this year.  I wear white shorts regularly.  I don't think I have any white dress pants... I'll have to look.

Mine is arranged by type with my spring/summer stuff in one closet and my fall/winter in another. My jeans are in the fall/winter closet as the summer one is serving both dh and Iand is half the size of the other one. But I organize by type/sleeve length. Mine has always been colorful...even at a size 22 (highest I got up to in 2002), I still wore light colored pants and colorful tops.

Until DD and family move out (3 more months!) I am very limited in closet space so my winter and summer things are jammed in and need to be ironed before I can wear them. In fact a lot of my summer clothes are piled up on my side of the bedroom.  Over the weekend I tried to organize them and found things I haven't worn for awhile.  I found a top from last summer that I held up and thought I don't think this will fit..I HAVE IT ON TODAY!

I've always loved bright colors.  My wardrobe before surgery was dark colored pants and bright shirts.  It really hasn't changed much other than the tops now are more fitted pullovers instead of open button downs with a sleeveless top underneath.

I haven't bought any white pants, capris, or shorts yet.  I do notice them when other women wear them and think they look really nice but I haven't gotten that brave yet.

I need a closet organizer!!  Any volunteers???  After losing weight and completely emptying my closet and started over I have tried to atleast separate the shirts and pants/skirts/dresses on different sides of the closet, but fail at that sometimes...

I never thought about doing it by color.  I try to separate the winter/summer, but they usually just end up mixed back together.

I do have white capris and love them.  I have a lot more colors now than I ever used to have and love them.  I've had to stop shopping for a while - I was spending way too much money.

Definitely not weird -- or if so...you have company.  I sort by color, too, within my tops and pants. Not quite a rainbow -- lots of neutrals and cool colors. The warm colors don't really work for me -- I wish I could wear the pretty melon and coral that's so popular right now.  Those colors would look great with my white capris :)

I am 54 and this is the first time I have a somewhat organized closet.  It is just so small I have to make the most of the space.  It starts with jeans, usually the ones I wear most first, then sweats and leggings.  After that shirts, then dresses then night clothes and at the end there are my jackets.  Not much but at least I have a general idea where to look for things.  When the weather gets really hot I don't even go in my closet, I just get my shorts and tops in my drawers.
I have always worn mainly dark colors like black and dark blue.  Not much different now though I hit the Goodwill outlet this weekend and got a pair of colored corduroys for the hell of it.  As soon as the temperature**** about 70 though all I wear are shorts and dresses.
