Hi girls!
I read on here a few weeks ago a poster who was raving about her fitness app. And rather than try to find it in archives I've decided to just ask here to see if any of you can suggest one or two for me?

I usually walk. Not much of a runner. But I would love to know how many milesI did, etc. Just seems like it would encourage me to lengthen my routes... THANKS!!!!

I have 3 different ones.  I have the Run 5K, 10K Runner and MapMyRun(this tracks more than running).  Map My Run is my favorite and it was free.  It will track how far you run, it has a GPS and it calculates calories(probably not very accurately) based on what you tell it you did. It has a nutrition section, but I only use it for the GPS,and it tells me at each mile, how far I've been, how long I have been walking/running and what my average MPH is.  It will interface with Facebook if you want it to or it can stand alone.

I bought the 10 K Runner, but had a hard time with it.  It has to be the last app opened or you can't hear the directions.

I'm sure others have more.

I like endomondo free - like the others, it's a free GPS that will track your mileage, speed, average speed, and lots of other good things. I hear from others that the kids use it to compete in downhill skiing when they're not at the same resort at the same time - they just record their time, and their friends try to beat it another day.

Me, I use it for wandering the neighborhood!

I have the same apps as the others except I have "5K Runner" free version because I'm not ready for either a 10K or 5K ;). If you ever get interested in trying to jog or run, I recommend the "5K Runner" app because it eases you into jogging/running and you can advance to the next "day of training" whenever you want. I'm still doing "Day 1" and I don't feel ready to advance yet after 3 times. Lol!

I bet those would work when I go out with the ponies    Of course that would mean I would have to take my phone with me and I'm bad for not remembering it.  I have a GPS watch that I used for measuring courses for competitions but I have to remember to charge it because I don't use it often.  Having it on my phone would be nice.

Absolutely they'd work! I used to forget my phone too, and then when I started walking back in 2002, DD kept hanging it on my hip because she was afraid I'd get hit by a car or something and be unable to call for help. I got so used to it, that now I freak if I don't have it.

Besides Myfitnesspal, my favorite fitness ap is

Pedometer Free v2.2.2

It tracks distance, calories, time, speed. I use it in the woods and only lost GPS information once when I was miles from reception.
