Let's see how much we can cram into a 4 day workweek.   What's on your list this week?

Continue to keep the Southeast US in your thoughts and prayers. Let this storm spread its rain out geographically, I know there are a lot of areas that desperately need it but not all at once.

Our government lead will be in my cube today--I think he's moved in. lol  Anyway, we'll see what he comes up with.  I started working on slides for his next briefing last week--no idea if these are what he really has in mind.

I'm enjoying my DS this week.  He's home from college for 4 days and then will be heading to Heidelberg on Friday for a 3-month research project sponsored by the university there.

I'm trying out different types of home-made protein bars....no success yet, but it would be good to have something a little healthier than commercial ones to have at the gym.

LOL!  Oh, Eliza, I read your first sentence and immediately assumed you were talking about duodenal switch surgery, and wondered when/why you had a revision!

Good luck on the bars - I've pretty much gone to shakes after workouts just because it's easier to control the carbs for me.

We close on a house that we sold due to a death in the family.  We spent 2011 going out of town every 4 days remodeling the house.  I will be glad once it is official.

I see my surgeon tomorrow for my first follow-up since having surgery.  It will be nice to have my questions answered.

That is all we have planned thus far.

Dasie,
Are you feeling good now since your surgery?  I would be interested in hearing the answers to your questions if you don't mind sharing with us.  That has always been the one big fear I have had since surgery.

Absolutely...I am looking forward to seeing him, and anything I can share that will help someone else I am more than happy to do.

I am feeling a lot stronger.  I am back to walking my 3 to 4 miles per day.  The only residual right now is my gut/digestion is still off.  I have a lot going on in there that I have not had since my RNY.  I'm still crampy feeling at times.  Until yesterday, anything I put into my mouth left pretty quickly.  When I eat, the digestion is very loud with a lot of gurgling. Sometimes the food seems to congregate in one area.   You can actually feel the movement if you place your hand on my abdomen.  That is something I did not have prior to the repair. I'm taking it very easy food wise.

I'm so grateful for my surgeon.  He is a calm, caring and considerate surgeon.  I went to more than a few seminars when I was deciding who to use, but it was his demeanor that led me to choose him.  I knew my aftercare would be excellent, and he has been exactly what I anticipated.  Thank goodness he had me transferred to where he practices.

The second attending in ER wanted to treat me even going as far as telling me what he was going to do was  what would be done anyway once I got into Houston.  . He wanted to insert an NG tube and try to withdraw the obstruction.  My intestines were looped and kinked, from what my husband said.   That was not the correct solution and would have only wasted time and have been very difficult for me I'm sure.

My husband did not tell me until a couple days ago that they told him worse case scenario my RNY would be reversed and I might have a temporary colostomy and resection - if he understood correctly.    I was so drugged I never knew.  So as you can imagine, I have a lot of questions and need to figure out if I was symptomatic but missed something before this occurred.

I'll let you know.

Just work for me.  I'm settling into my home office this week.  I brought home all my stuff from the downtown office and I finally have the Internet set up so that it can reach the pool deck.
