Sunday Weigh In
This week 103
Total change - 4
I guess it hasn't been a good week. I stopped taking the Gabapentin because all the stories I was hearing scared me. About 7 years ago I started a new medication and that is when I started regaining the 100 lbs. At the time the drug was really helping me and I was in denial about the weight gain but since then I swore I wouldn't take anything medication that caused me to gain weight unless my life depended on it. This medication didn't even help me with the pain and I gained about a pound a day on it. I stopped taking it a week ago.
Also it has been a very bad week as far as my eating goes. I've been depressed about JJ and I started eating the way I had been before, that was comfortable for me, 3 meals a day and a snack or two if needed. Because of my low blood sugar episodes I usually have at least one or 2 snacks a day but I haven't been eating a lot and I have had no hunger. Yesterday I was busy and I didn't eat for something like 8 or 10 hours. I didn't get any low blood sugar symptoms so I figured I was alright. I'm really not comfortable eating all the time when I don't get hungry. I usually keep things with me but yesterday they were all gone. I need to start packing things with me if I'm going to be away from the house long.
My head and neck pain hasn't gotten better and I know my doctor isn't going to be happy that I stopped taking the Gabapentin. I am at the point where I think it is important to find out the cause so they can treat that instead of the symptom of pain. It doesn't seem like there are any other avenues to explore though. I am sick of the pain.

If he isn't happy that you stopped the gabapentin does he understand that 1) it wasn't helping at it's current dose and 2) it was causing weight GAIN? And ask him if there is an alternative that won't cause weight gain.

We all hit a slow down around week 3-4 due to our body going "WTF have you done to me???" It can last awhile. But we always suggest measuring before and once a month after cause you will lose inches even in the months you don't lose weight.
Not a RNY but I dropped 28 lbs first month, 11 the second, and then about 5 the rest til I got to month 8...then it slowed down greatly. I even gained a couple of lbs one month around month 12.
So don't panic...as long as you are getting in your protein/fluids and following the rules, it will come off.
But look at it this way, you have lost over 31 lbs in just 7 weeks...that is an average of almost 4.5 lbs EVERY week!
