Oh my word!  I'm so sorry you had to go through this.  I'm proud of your DH taking a stand for your health like that. 

This was a wake-up call for me.  Like you, I see myself as "in the clear" from this complication. Your experience has given me new awareness.

Kay...is the LBL considered another abdominal surgery?  Are the drains internal?  Mikimi said her drains were in her Mons.  In the LBL that is not an internal abdominal procedure, right?  I don't want to put myself at greater risk.

I'm not a doctor, but I don't think so.  It only goes deep enough to tighten the abdominal muscles.  I don't think it penetrates the muscles into the abdominal cavity.  I had four drains. they were along my scar at the hip line.  Two ran from my hip toward my bellybutton and the other two were at the hip toward my spine.  They were under the skin in the 'fatty tissue," but not in the abdomen itself.  I see my PS on Monday for a check-up.  I'll try to remember to ask him about it.

My PS said the LBL is not abdominal surgery.  He doesn't cut into the abdominal cavity.  He just tightens the muscles on top.
