Update and Labs
I have been incredibly busy and not able to post much these days. I still lurk and try to keep up with everyone.
I'm 18+ months from my RNY. My weight is fairly stable, but fluctuates 5-8 pounds. I try not to panic with the flux. I haven't had any issues relative to my WLS. I can eat pretty much anything although I struggle with chicken and turkey. My biggest issues are "head" issues. Head hunger and behavior modification are still every day challenges.
Non-WLS related, my life is very good. Every now and then you hear me whine about my job. I'm still not wild about it. I spent most of the Spring traveling for work. Corporately my department was re-structured. On the plus side, I still have a job and I'm thankful. My new role will mean an increase in travel for me. It is the right time in my life for a job like this. I don't have any kids at home. DH is fine as long as I'm home on the weekends. We spent 4 of my last 8 years in the military living in separate places. We don't like being a part these days. It was also a promotion so I really can't complain.
I've been fortunate to spend time with my father (85) recently. I treasure the time with him. DH, the kids, and grandkids are all well. In a nutshell, life is very good for me.
I'm including my most recent labs. I'm concerned about my iron. It is trending down. My Dr commented on how high my vitamin D is. Thank you Vitalady!

Sounds like you are doing great. Congrats. We are very close, my RNY was 9-9-10. I have some fluctuations too but try to get right back on track when it is up. It would be hard for me to travel that much since it is the time way that makes my weight go up. I haven't been taking any iron but my Ferrintin has been trending down so I started this week, everyother day. Have you been taking anything? I am certainly not the vit/min guru but I'm sure Gina will chime in tonight.

I've been taking some iron Bariatric Advantage 18mg. Since I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago, I figured I wouldn't have problem with my iron. I certainly don't want to deal with anemia in the future. My Dr said my iron was fine, but my Ferritin is trending down too. I want to address it before it becomes a problem. Gina is always a big help.

I can't remember if you are one of the Protrein Drink users or not but I still use one Protein Powder drink a day in a Blender Bottle and j can only drink if it is VERY cold.
About a year after my RnY I did an experiment for one month due to finances and did not buy PP--my total protein level went from 7.4 down to 6.9--I realized and decided that I need PP in my life. My Bariatric Surgeon when I had my op in Feb, 2008 tells us PP two weeks before and after the op.
I saw that for me if I made PP drink I got in more liquid and it was a jumpstart for my protein account for the day. In food (I eat carbs including junk but I amvery discriminating in how much or if at all) I aim for 80-100g a day but I average 70-90g.
I never hit bmi weight for my height of 5ft/152cm - to weigh 58K ain't gonna happen! I'm hoping one day for 70K. Before my SRVG in 1993 I weighed 120K/270lbs. Even nowadays when I want to buy clothes I am often to look elsewhere as to how they don't have my size. People still see in me "a short and fat lady". And those who know what I've done with Bariatric Surgery and Plastics and still vsrbally tell me how I need to lose 20K I respond with "I MAY NOT BE TWIGGY, BARBIE OR MODEL ON THE CATWALK. I AM A MODERN VOLKSWAGON--SHORT SMALL AND COMPACT!". Of course I am also healthier - not thst i had any comorbidities before my srvg.
Now you are supposed to laugh my dear!
My HmG was 12.8 which for me is great.
I find I still eat all the time (including incorrectly-drinking water with my meal or grazing on sunflower seeds or whatever). I am always looking at the clock to check for at least two hours separating calcium and iron. My thyroid meds I take on the middle of the night and now I am before further Plastics so I take Zinc which I read
should not be taken close to minerals (Ca and Fe).

I still drink them too. I make myself a "double" shot protein drink in the morning. I like the Snytrax Tea. My pouch is not a morning pouch. The PP drink is an easy way to start my day.
I'm taller than you are, but I never hit a normal BMI either. I'm ok with it. Like you I have lost all my cormorbidities, and that was the main reason I had the surgery. The height must give me an edge, people think I weight less than I really do.
Weight and body image are so personal for each of us. Honestly, I'm not the girl that looks in the mirror and tells myself I look fat, or my teeth aren't white enough, or I have wrinkles. I'm pretty happy in my own skin. I was at 270 and I am now. I shared some Halloween pictures on Facebook one year. My niece commented to my sister, "Does Aunt Kay know how fat she is?" Apparently, my costume wasn't suitable for a middle aged fat woman. DH and I had a blast that night and never knew. On the other hand I have a girlfriend who is a dancer. She scrutinizes her body every day. A 20 pound weight gain would seem like the end of the world to her. We are all so different and with different perspectives on our bodies. I would have never thought about WLS if it weren't for my health issues.
I had PS for me. I wanted to get rid of the droopy roll on my tummy. I didn't need a mirror to see it. I'd had it since I had kids. The weight gain/loss only made it worse. I like that I can wear smaller clothes. I still have large thighs and some droop under my chin. I feel more confident. I'm not planning on any other PS. For a middle aged grandma, I'm in a good spot.
I'm doing fairly well with my vitamin routine. I've been able to eat "normally," but I need to get back to basics and get those carbs out of my diet.
Thanks for your support and insights.

Kay, sounds like you are doing great. Congratulations about the promotion.
I have always had iron/hemoglobin issues so I knew I would be on Iron Supplements the rest of my life after surgery. I take the Bariatric Advantage chewables. Mine got a just a little low at one point. Someone suggested I take the iron 1 hour after my other morning medicines and around 1 hour before my calcium. I started doing this and it came right back up.
