I am Beth and I was banded 6 years and a few months ago.  I haven't had any issues with my band (and I am glad for that) and I lost nearly 100 pounds.  I was an avid runner and pretty much a 'clean' eater for the first 4 years.  That changed about 2 years ago when I tore cartilage in my hip and had to stop running.  That caused some depression since I had to have surgery, be on crutches for about 3 months and have physical therapy for about 2 years.  I started eating crap and gained enough weight back that I am not comfortable in my own skin.  So, I visited the low carb board and a post on there lead me to the LW board.  I would like to loss about 40 pounds.   I hope to post my food here daily so that I can be accountable to myself.  Thanks for letting me join in.

Hi and welcome.
Years and years ago, I was a runner and my hips broke down.  I had lost 80 lbs but gained it all back and more.  I am recovering now from a knee replacement.  I understand how recovery can really throw you off, physically and emotionally.  I am on the up side at this point and getting active again which feels great.
I post daily and I think it is part of my positive to keep me honest and where I need to be.  I'll look forward to seeing your post.

Welcome to the lightweight board, Beth...sorry you tore your hip cartilage and had to stop running. It may take some time but posting in Roz' thread "Menus and Miles" here on the LW board should help you see where your issues are lurking.

Hi Beth, Welcome to the LW board.  Posting my menu helps to keep me accountable(some days!!)

Sorry you tore your cartilage.  Will you be able to go back to running one day?  If not, can you walk for exercise or are do you have to limit any movement that involves your hip.  That sounds like a long recovery.

Let us know if we can help you.

I'm so glad you decide to post on our Main board!  Posting on M&M helps with accountability.  Joining the group posts will help you alot bcause we have a great group here who are wonderful for encouraging.  I've found that the more I encourage others the more it helps me.

I give you alot of credit for keeping off 60 pounds for 6 years.  Do you stil get fills to help with restriction or are you doing it on your own?

Hi Roz,

I am maintaining the loss with restriction.  I do not get fills anymore - I haven't had one for at least 2 years anyway.  Once my band gets to a certain point it is tight enough for me to keep restriction.  I still have to follow the band rules of eating - little bites, no drinking when eating.  It hasn't been easy but it is worth it.  Thanks for you encouragement.
