Good Morning. Ruts, routines and special occasions
I think Jody and I learned that everything done in the '70s doesn't necessarily need to be redone in 2012. Dark Shadows was so-so and I even watched it in the old days and liked it. Jody, thanks for sharing your day with me and the family.

So, do you guys have any lessons learned that you'd like to share about ruts, routines and special occasions?

I was at a horse show where I was the scorer, meaning I was pretty much stuck in one room, with a computer, entering the phase scores when they came in. I took the trailer down and camped but didn't bring a lot of food because I knew they would be feeding volunteers and I wouldn't be expected to cook. One of the main things I learned is that I still have a GREAT weakness for salty stuff and each day did have a single serving size bag of chips. Maybe I am still in electralite imbalance from last weekend but I couldn't seem to resist them. Another thing I learned was that if I don't eat on time, I way over eat. Both nights, by the time we went to dinner, I was too hungry and ate too much. Didn't feel sick or anything, but ate way more than I needed to. Sat night when I snacked late to try to control it, I still over ate at dinner. To be sure, I ate less than 1/3 of my dinner each night, but it was still more than the 1c or so I would have eaten at home. And sweets, well, it is a good thing I don't keep them around. Luckily, there weren't a bunch but I did eat a mini muffin yesterday morning because I never got back to the trailer to eat. So instead of having what I would have considered "breakfast", I snacked most of the morning. To top the whole weekend off, DS and DH took me out to dinner last night. chinese buffet which I did ok with shrimp, oysters but I did have a bite of a few other things. I would have been better off with a protein shake and going to bed. The positive is that I did take my protein and started each day with protein coffee and and a shake each afternoon. Other than the rice with gumbo, I stayed away from bad carbs, well, other than the muffin, chips, and birthday cake. Humm, I guess I didn't. I did eat a lot of protein too.
So for now, my answer is to get back on track. The rest I have to think about some more. Take my own protein chips? Try to have real "meals" instead of snacks all day? I'm still a work in progress for sure.

Now - I did call my Mom and said "I have to blame you for something" and explained about Dark Shadows and how she didn't let me watch it - she laughed and said "you didn't miss much"... LOL

Anyway, we learned this week that the daughter we raised has disappeared and a inconsiderate stranger who is dependent on her husband for validation has taken her place.
HIS parents are down to see the baby...well, rather than asking her grandmother (my mil) to join them for dinner last night, they expected her to babysit and took his parents out to dinner. SHE is not the person we raised her to be and both of us are glad we don't live closer or we would say something to offend him and end up cut off.

As far as ruts/routines/special occasions, I've decided that special occasions need to come rarely for me, LOL!
I work best in a routine or rut (I call it routine, DH calls it rut) when I know what I will be eating/drinking and when, as well as what sort of movement I'll be getting in, and again, when.
Without that, I slide right back into bad habits and the picture isn't pretty!

But, today is a new day and I am back to work and back in my rut/routine, so all is good. I got up and packed my lunch this morning knowing I could have my one day and get back on track.
Now I need to take my gift card I got and find me a new pair of running shoes. Funny how the things we used to want change over the years.
Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Got to goal on 5/7 and decided the routine that got me there is the rut I want to stay in. Haven't "celebrated" with anything just adding some veggies to lunch and dinner. My indulgence is TWO tablespoons of Silk soy creamer to my morning coffee.
Thanks for reading my thoughts for a Monday morning. Have a great day!

to find a new activity that I will like. Maybe time to try swimming...hmm....just a thought!!!
I have also been working out for a solid 2 years straight....pretty darn good for me....this may also explain my boredom. Summer also isnt my favorite season. I think I have seasonal affective disorder in reverse. LOL.
