No More Protein

On my 6 month check up (RNY) my nutritionist told me I do NOT have to drink anymore protein drinks as long as I'm eating enough protein.  I am continuing to loose weight at a slow pace (approx. 1 lb. a week), and I'm okay with that.

Do you still drink protein drinks?  If so, how much protein in a day do you take in?
If not, do you track your protein daily?  How many grams do you eat a day in protein?

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Don't change anything--keep drinking your shakes. It helps keep the cravings and munchies at bay.

My NUT does not want us to use Protein Shakes either and I tried to not use them, but ended up snacking and eating other things.  They help me to stay on track and I actually like mine.  I use the Syntrax Nectar Lemon Tea and the Cappuccino mostly they only have around 90 calories so that is much better than some other things I would snack on!!   I do 3 a day one for breakfast, mid morning snack and afternoon snack.  Sometimes I will have a Chocolate truffle or another kind with Hood Calorie Countdown Milk at night and make it into like a milkshake.

I would do what made you successful as long as you can keep your protein up.  I like to be able to eat other foods like salad and not have to worry about eating all protein all the time.

I stopped drinking protein drinks at 6 weeks when i was cleared for real food.  They did nothing for me in terms of satiation, they were like drinking water.  I track all of my food on Fitday and make sure i hit my protein requirements.  If it's late and night and i notice I'm light i will do a shake but most likely a FAGE yogurt with some SF preserves and torani SF syrup.  Drinking, as in any liquid feels like mindless eating to me.  I certainly pay more attention when I'm chewing.  Hope this helps

This works for me:  I swear by Protien drinks.  I drink at least 4 a day which totals about 127grams or more.   I don't like to keep track of my Protein total so this way I'm sure to get it in.

I've also noticed that some of our LW's that have given up the Protein drinks and try to eat enough protein seem to start gaining their weight back from the increased calories once they get to maintenance.

My NUT likes us to drink our Protein but everyones told something different.  You just need to do whats best for you.
