Is this familiar to anyone?
I'm almost 6 mos out, and at 5 mos I had my gallbladder taken out. During this last month I have had recurrent pains in my abdomen, but I figured I was just recuperating from the last surgery. After seeing that surgeon twice now, he said to see my bariatric surgeon because he felt there was possibly something wrong with my stomach. I have an appt on Tuesday, but am frustrated that I'm having problems after 6 mos.
I know I've hit a bit of a stall, been feeling a bit nauseous, have cramps near my stomach area as well as tender to the touch and it's sore. Not sure what's happening, but fearing crazy stuff: stretched my stomach? ripped something? sleeve no longer going to work for me? Sigh--my worry level has gone bonkers!
Guess I'm just looking for others to give me some insight or "oh yeah, that happened to me" comments..
Anyone?
Thanks!
Mary Lou

It could be several things and I hope your surgeon will be able to pinpoint what's going on. You may have a scope in your future to check things out on the inside. Maybe an ulcer or something... Keep us posted and be good to yourself.

A couple years after I had my surgery I was having severe pains so they took my gall bladder out too. After surgery I still had the same symptoms but not as bad for about 4 months. I had a scope because they thought it might me ulcers but everything looked fine.
Pain is scarey and can lead to all kinds of fears. I think fear and thoughts of complications can lead to pain sometimes. After my scope turned out ok and the Surgeon said everything was perfect all of my anxiety and pain disappeared.
I'm glad you are scehduled for an appointment. They will probably do a scope and then you will know for sure.

Mary Lou,
I'm 7 months RNY. I have had similar pain that you've discribed. My stomache becomes so sensitive after I eat that I undo my pants (and they're not tight) as well as pull the elastic down from around my waist from my panties. I had a CAT scan and they found no leaks etc. It feels like my stomache is so close to my outer skin (if that makes sense) and each time I eat I become very sensitive. OMG! My husband is so nervous when we go to a restaurant because he knows I'm going to UNDO my pants. LOL!!!
I can't answer your question about your gallbladder as I had mine out 16 years ago. But I have heard that it's very common after a large weight loss to need to have it removed. Hope they do some tests on you soon and figure out what's going on. Take care.

Mary Lou,
I hope the surgeon figures out what is going on with you and can get it fixed easily.
When I eat a lot of tomato based products for an extended period of time, I start having pain above my navel. I took Carafat for a while and it cleared it up. Now if it starts bothering me, I just cut back on the tomatoes and it usually clears up.
Keep us updated.

Thanks to everyone who's been replying!! I've been looking up what "scope" is and if it hurts! HA So far, I'm not too afraid if that is what happens. I just want the doctor and surgeon to figure this out. I'm concerned I've screwed up by eating the wrong things or too much. I'm trying to concentrate on this being a learning experience and not be tooooo down on myself, but at the same time so worried I've ruined my sleeve.
The pain I have has been right near the ribs (below the ribs, but not as far down as the navel). It's a little to the left side & in the middle. That was one reason I thought it had to do with the gallbladder surgery--he had gone through one of my original bariatric holes/ports, which is right there. But, there is no sign of infection or anything. Everything looks good there, but my stomach is real sore now. While I was healing from that surgery, I thought it was perhaps a pulled muscle from getting up every hour to go to the bathroom. (The nurse had me do that throughout the night so I didn't have a catheter--her words: "I would much rather have you do that then me put one in." Believe me, I didn't--I was in pain pushing on my stomach to bear down. LOL!) But, since it never went away, I figured it wasn't a pulled muscle.
Thanks for the insights! Really looking forward to figuring this out.

I had similar pain and I had a petersen's hernia and an intermittent hernia, my small intestine would slip in and out of an opening in my abdomen wall (not my skin). The opening developed after some of the weight came off. They did "gallbladder" removal aka exploratory surgery to find out what was going on. Warning...go to your bariatric guy...the ER sent me home with undetermined abdominal pain and knew nothing.

Mine was above the belly button and sometimes caused doubling over pain and nausea, other times it was just uncomfortable to stand and I was more comfortable sitting. It was like a pulling inward toward my back type of dull pain (if that makes any sense). Because it was slipping in and out of the "hole", it would last for hours and then go away for a week or so. It was very random.
