Hello LW Friends...
I am updating and checking in today. After an emergency surgery in early March this year for a Bowel Obstruction. I am facing another surgery for a couple hernias, one large ventral hernia and a newly diagosed incisional hernia. Wow, I know, I dont do nothing half way!!!!
I am so ready to get rid of these annoying bumps and problems associated with these hernias!! Other than this hernia business, I am trying really hard to maintain at goal and if I can lose more before surgery that would be great too!! If anyone has info regarding hernias and recovery times please feel free to advise me....Your experience and advice is greatly appreciated!!

I'm doing pretty good. Had an appt yesterday to set me up to get the arch bars (wire bars) off my teeth/gums but the front desk had JUST that morning received my approval for the procedure so I won't know til today or Monday what day they are doing it.
And my foot is healing...the one we tried to break, LOL.
Let us know the day you go into surgery...and I hope it's SOON so you can get well.
Liz, your SS.

I am so sorry to hear about these issues. Hopefully this will resolve one and for all.
I have a question. I suspect I have an incisions hernia. I have asked several on OH about their symptoms. From what I've been told, CAT scan does not always diagnose them. I am looking to have plastic surgery, but I need to know before hand whether or not I have a hernia. These are my symptoms. I'm curious if they are similar to yours in any way.
I am 29 months post op. This issue began around year 2. While at the gym preparing to exercise I was laying on the floor legs extended in front of me. I bent over as far as possible and suddenly to the right on my belly button a large bulge appeared. It was very painful...like a bad cramp. I jumped up and began rubbing the spot walking in circles. The bulge went down, but I was very sore for days later. I felt like I had done 500 sit ups. Several weeks later it happened again, then again, then again. I then decided I would not stretch in that manner. I decided I would stand up, bend over and grab my ankles. When I did, the same thing happened.
It is happening off and on, with one exception. If I aggravate it by stretching, it is then prone to reappear just by deep laughing. I am now hesitant to stretch at all.
Are my symptoms similar to yours at all?

They sound what I've read here before about hernias. My understanding is the recovery time is about the same as for WLS. The good thing is many folks start to lose weight again once the hernias are repaired.

Hi Dasie....I was only 9 months out when I noticed a bulge above my navel and it has just kept growing!! It was diagnosed in November and was hoping to have surgery a few months later. That didnt happen so finally after the arrival of another small lump I am having my surgery. I walk mostly, I didnt want to pu**** doing cardio or sit ups. From the sound of yours I suspect it could be a ventral hernia or umbilical hernia. Yes the pain is like a bad cramp. I feel my pain also in my back and discomfort in the hernia area itself. A hernia can also cause constipation, pain, nausea and vomiting. It would be a good idea to get it looked at as these hernias do not go away. Good Luck...hope this helped
