Hi all
I am thinking I fit in over here.  My lap RNY is sceduled for May 14. I am 256, and 5'6" w/ a BMI of 40.2.

I hope some of yo who have had the sugery that were about my sise can help. Now i know everyone loses differently, but I need to order a bridesmaids dress by May 1st. I don't know what size to get! The wedding is Sep 8, so it's about 4 months later.
I am a dress size 20/22 now. The BM dress is very forgiving. It is a strapless, empire waisted, knee-length, eggplant color dress that zips up the back and can be taken in.

Any ideas on what size dress should I order?

Have no idea. People come in different shapes and sizes. One's weight loss can be very different from someone else's. It depends on how much you have to lose. If I had to make a guess, probably 30-40 lbs, but who knows? Just make sure that the dress can be altered. I don't think this one can be predicted.

I think you can bet on about 40 pounds if not a little more. Do you have any idea what you might have worn at that weight?

Oh wow - that's a tough one!

4 months later... Figure an avg of 10 lbs a month... Gina hit it - yep, figure 40 lbs.  If its forgiving - you should be ok.

 My BMI was 40.9, I wore a 20/22W but I am 5'2 and was 226.  I am 3.5 months out and I wear a 14. I have lost 63 pounds.  Hope that helps.

First month 20 pounds, then 10 pounds after that. Guess 1 size per 10 pounds BUT----bridal gowns are cut smaller than todays vanity sized clothing.

In Feb I went and got measured and was wearing dresses in size 4. The woman ordered a 10 for me. Now I KNOW I have to get that dress altered. It just came in today. Maybe order a 14. Either way I bet you'll have to pay for alterations.

I started the overall journey at 239, size 22-24, and we're about the same height.   I had surgery at 217 (long story there...) and was in a size 12 after 4 months.  Since it can be easier to take in a dress than to potentially let it out, I recommend you go with a 14, and plan on alterations.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!! Every wedding I've been in has resulted in tons of alterations...sounds like a pretty dress. Thank God for good seamstresses!!!!!!
