I have to agree with the other members that responded to your post. I too asked the same question not even a month ago...Do I belong here? lol

I went in this morning for my pre-op tests. I was shocked that I had lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks of the 2 protein shakes and a sensible dinner, I have to admit that I was not eating any meat and used portabella mushrooms as a meat substitute. I was quite proud of myself, then the fear kicked in! The nurse left out of the room, and then I thought..."They are going to cancel my surgery because I was able to lose some weight on my own!" I was seriously sweating! But then she came back in and said congratulations that is 11 less lbs that you have to lose to meet your goal weight.

I started at 220 lbs and I am 5'2", I am currently at 209 lbs and my RNY is scheduled for 4/25. I am truly excited!

Believe me newme, people are always going to talk...like everyone else said, wear earmuffs! Don't let anyone try to steal your joy or your desire to be healthy. Just smile and tell them that you are very happy with your decision and that you are fortunate to have people in your life that support you...all of us on OH have been so supportive of each other.

You are to Blessed to be Stressed!

I heard that a lot too.  We all did, but now that I lost some serious weight people realize how overweight I was.  I showed a coworker my before picture and he said, "you made yourself look fat, you never looked like that!". I just laughed.  I am lucky and have received tons of support even though most people didn't think I needed it.  I get compliments and encouragement daily from my coworkers and friends.

You will get tons of both here on this forum.  Welcome!
