Just like everyone else recommends, do your research. I chose a surgeon that was very experienced in all surgeries, and who does them all laproscopically if possible. I had a very long discussion (at least 40 minutes) with my surgeon about the types of surgery, and my specific co-morbidities. I did not have diabetes, but I did have uncontrolled reflux, so he recommended a RNY. I've lost all the weight that I should lose, and now the hard part begins - maintenance.
Because maintenance can be very hard, look around for a good support group, either with your surgeon, or on line to make sure that you have the best chance for the optimum long term outcome.
Other than maybe Liquid Tylenol I can't think of anything you need to buy after surgery. Maybe some popsicles and broth. It's hard to believe but for awhile your taste buds will go into shock mode and everything will taste extremely sweet, sour, strong, etc. so you don't want to stock up on Protein etc. You can order Protein samples from Vita-lady but don't try to pick any before surgery.
By the way...your caps don't bother me in the least!
Good Luck in your journey and keep us updated!
