Heading to the OR again in May

I will be heading to the OR about mid May...not sure of the exact date but in about 4 weeks from now. They are going to send me to day surgery to 1) remove all the wiring around my teeth (similar to braces) and 2) one post is a bit high and he has to clip it off...it sits right under my left eye. He has to cut the skin and cut the top of the post, then stitch/glue/whatever the very small incision he has to make.

I'll be in just that day...hopefully home by noon if I get an early enough surgery. But I will have a black eye, I just know it, LOL.

Normally he just removes the wires in his office but the post is putting me back in the OR. He had me there just at 4 weeks ago to put all the wires on, "break" my jaws and put plates/posts in to stabilize the whole thing. Been on a primarily liquid diet since but was told today I am allowed to chew again, just go easy.

Liz, sorry you are going to have to go back to the OR again.

Will you have to start back on liquids are this surgery or will you get to start with mushies or chewing?  Bless your heart, this whole thing just sounds so painful.

Get some good make up to hide that black eye!!

I'll be swinging Little Willie for you - if I can get him off the recliner....

I think I can go straight to chewing once my mouth is no longer bruised from being "abused" again...May have to do liquids one day???

Thanks, and this time I am looking forward to it.

Can he do an eye lift while he's there?  Just saying!  LOL. Sorry you have to go back to the OR.  I hope it's worth it when you're done.  I bet you will be happy to chew food.  Good luck!

Not a bad idea, LOL...

I would be happy to chew food but it still hurts to do so...my jaws ache.

I do not know the history behind this, but your post sounds amazingly calm.  That is an extensive amount of work you have had done.  I hope you are able to enjoy some of your favorite foods again.

dasie, I had a LeFort/SSRO procedure done for hypoxia/sleep apnea done 4 weeks ago. I had already had the UPPP done back in 2002. This made my esophagus wider so when alseep, the base of my tongue would not close it off.

No use in getting weirded out...the hard part is done.

I hope so too.

I do remember now.  I love your strong attitude.  I guess the "benefit," if you could call it that, is did you drop a few pounds being on liquids?  That would be the bright side.  Glad the hard part is behind you.

Enjoy chewing in the meanwhile.  Hopefully you will zip through this one as easily as you did the last.

Thanks, Price...this one SHOULD be easier...and this time I don't have to baby the jaw as much as I have done the last 4 weeks. But I am still being very careful.
