I am so close to goal but only losing .5 to 1lb a week. Now at least I'm still losing so I'm not complaining just wondering if this is normal. I'm thinking I'm slipping into old habits again.
A person who doesn't have surgery and eats as much as I do would definitely lose weight. In the past I would take my weight and multiply by 15 and then subtract 1000 and that would be my calorie intake to lose 2 lbs weekly. I am eating way less than that and slow losing.
I sometimes get concerned that maybe this is it. I'm not going to get an smaller. And then the scale mOves down. I still can't believe how amazing this surgery is. Ihavent been this weight for 16 years :)

When did you have surgery? If you are still losing that amount, you are doing well. I was a slow loser. The closer you get to goal the more difficult it can become. I am 5 away from my goal...most days. The fact I am not living there is totally my own fault. I have not been disciplined enough to stop eating the few carbs I have allowed myself or not walking on my treadmill the days my family cannot get out with me in order to walk. I encourage you to stay on course. I did not, but I am determined to reach my goal and live there. Others have done it, and so can I. I simply have to be willing to pay the price. You will get there too.
We ALL slow down...
I lost MOST of my weight in the first 3 months.
1st month lost 22 lbs
2nd month lost 12 lbs
3rd month lost 11 lbs by here I had lost 45 lbs out of the 69 total listed so I was over half way done
4th month lost 5 lbs
5th month lost 3 lbs
6th month lost 5 lbs
7th month lost 3 lbs
8th month lost 4 lbs
9th month lost 2 lbs
10th month gained .5 lb
11th month lost 1 lb
12th month gained .2 lbs
13th month lost 2 lbs
14th month lost 2 lbs
But even in the slow months, I ALWAYS measured and except for one month, I've lost an inch or more EACH month.
So if you are still losing .5 to 1 a week...that's 2-4 lbs a MONTH!!!
Calorie amounts do NOT apply to restrictive surgeries in the same way they do for normal people. It also makes a difference which surgery you had. And stay away from carbs.

Toward the end I was losing a pound or 2 a month. So you are right where you need to be for the end of the weight loss part. But it isn't a good time to slip back into old habits. If you are still losing, just keep on keeping on. Then do it some more.

Will 20 pounds put you in the Normal BMI range?
Slipping into old habits occassionally will definitely slow you down but even worse than that they will turn into a daily routine and not just a habit.
ONLY losing .5 to 1 lb. a week...I think losing that amount is awesome when you only have 20 lbs. to go!
The only suggestion I have is to cut out all "bad" carbs and sugar and increase your calories through protein (Whey Protein if possible) for 3 days and then drop back down to what you are eating now (minus the bad habits). That might jump start you into losing faster again.

I agree with the others losing .5 to 1 lb a week is good when you only have 20 more to go.
Are you writing down everything you eat? Sometimes when we eyeball it and then write it down, it shows us a whole different number. Check your carb totals, they can get you in trouble in a hurry. It is not just the total number of calories - it is what makes up those calories.
Are you exercising? If not, start slow and add a little bit. We usually become more active in general as we lose weight.
Try posting on Roz's Menus and Miles everyday and let us see what you are having - maybe we can offer some hints.
Good luck and let us know if we can help you.

Thanks everyone! I've been in the same boat. I've lost half way to goal in 3 months. Now I get discouraged because the scale doesn't move more than a pound a week...if that! Of course I need to be exercising more too! One of the things that has kept me from getting discouraged is the inches. I've lost 34 since my surgery!
