Good Morning. Another day another dollar...

...another day playing with process maps. I love this--I get to draw on the computer all day and get paid for it. :)  "Drawing" is a matter of opinion but I like it.  What part of your job (regardless if you stay at home or go to a work site) do you really like?  I imagine teachers and nurses get a spark from their students and patients every now and then, but is that what makes your job float your boat? Is there something required of you that you just really like doing, making, drawing, calculating, writing, etc.?

Y'all have a great Wednesday!

I am a stay at home day trader.  I love every single aspect of that passion... except the fact that the market is not my friend right now, so I have been sitting on the sidelines.  That is usually not the case.  Even so, I usually start my day at 3:00 am in order to begin following the worldwide markets.  I am so thankful for my newly found passion.  I was medically retired in 2004 due to my eyesight and stopped driving in 1997.  I prayed for years for  something that would occupy my time and where I could use my mind.  I unexpectedly "discovered" my passion for trading in 2008 (worst possible time to do that).  I had never traded or bought stocks..never even owned a portfolio... prior to that first day I waded into this very exciting world.  I am a total non-risk taker, so this was completely out of my comfort zone.  I am also very frugal.  I think those combinations have served me well in this endeavor...most times.  I consider myself a complete novice at this, but I love it nonetheless.

Wow Dasie, that sounds like so much fun.

I can't imagine doing that though.  I won't even let my 401c put my money into the stocks.  It is not making any money right now - I'm just too afraid of losing it right before retirement.

Maybe things will pick back up in the near future.  My son works for Caterpillar - we watch that stock but don't have any.  I've thought about investing in some of it, but it is pretty high right now.

That stock shot up really quickly a couple months ago...it is on my catch list.

We have always kept all our money in CDs, and we were making very little.  My husband is 62, so I know what you mean about scary when we are this close to retirement.  Beginning in  2008 he would come home everyday saying "so and so made $500 today or so and so made $10,000 over the last four months."  His company allows them to have a self-directed brokerage account in their 401Ks.  I told him day after day, "I don't care what so and so did - we don't do that sort of thing."  Then I talked to my SIL and learned the secret of their, at that time, nearly $1,000,000 portfolio...stocks they traded.  The guys at my BIL's job were like the ones at my husband's job...very involved in trading.  I remember in the 80s when his brother tried to talk us into the market; we thought they were so foolish because that was only for the "experts."  Boy were we wrong

Anyway...we finally decided we would try.  I mean 2 totally ignorant people not knowing squat...nothing, but  I began reading books and watching the business channels.  .  It has completely changed our future.  I prefer to buy and close my positions the same day because the market is too volatile right now.  I am perfectly happy with small gains.  But we are making way more than a CD could ever pay, and I can get out quickly if breaking news is negative.  I'm fortunate because I don't have a job...my kids tell me this is my job.  So I sit in front of my computer all day watching my charts.  The money we make on a daily basis is how we plan on supplementing our retirement.  My husband does not have a pension, so for us it is only social security and this.  I wish I had done this years ago, especially during the 90s.  It really is way easier than you would think.

I like being useful and making a difference in women's lives. In my current job I really like working with the young resident physicians and love being in a learning environment.

Morning everyone.

I love my job.  I work at a public library and love to read so this was like the ideal job for me.

I do the administrative, financial part in the back so I very rarely see the public.  I love NUMBERS and balancing things.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I'm a puzzle/detail oriented person who does NOT deal well with authority.

As a school psychologist, I get to figure out why school isn't working for specific kids, and then make the explanation understandable to non-professionals (including teachers). I also get to schedule my own time, as long as it falls within the parameters of the school day, so sometimes if I'm just doing a shake for lunch, I'll work through the scheduled lunch times and then just take my lunch the last 45 minutes of the day and go home and work out.

The spark comes when I can tell a kid that *this* is what's making school hard, and *that* is what we're going to do to make it better.

On another note, I got a fitbit over the weekend. I know it's a pedometer on steroids rather than as involved as the body bugg, but I'm loving it and discovered (yeah, like I didn't already known this) that I'd been over-estimating my activity and under-estimating my calories in. Back on track, and down 2 pounds of the 8 I gained and want to drop!

I love my job!!   I love helping people.

I worked at a jewelry store for 18 years selling beautiful jewelry to people who could aford it and it was fun but not fulfilling.  Now I get to help working families who can't afford daycare, need help clothing their children and putting food on their table.  It is much more rewarding. Yes, there always those who try to take advantage but the majority of our clients are trying really hard to survive and supply the basic needs for their families.

I have a small private business that provides services to developmentally disabled adults.  I've been working in this field for 25 yrs.  I love my clients and my staff.  We are much more like partners in this indevore than boss and employees.  I do all the administrative work from bookkeeping to personnel.  Although I think this question is about "task" you like at work, my favorite part of work is my flexability.  I can take off for 2 days, like I am doing this week, and then work evenings and weekend, as long as I get everything done.  I also like being a know-it-all.  Even with the changes, I have been doing this long enough to be considered one of the folks in the know and I like that respect.
