New to this forum & wanted to say "Hi"

My name is Christina & I'm a 37 (just turned 37 last week) year old Mom of two teenagers & wife to a Military Police Officer here in Colorado. I had RNY on 1/23/12 & depending on which scale I weigh on, I'm down about 45 lbs. I had a starting BMI of 39.6 w/ Central sleep apnea, high BP & newly diagnosed diabetes. I also have Lupus. I am now @ a BMI of 132.4, lowered my body fat by 10%, normal BP, controlled central apnea, NOT diabetic & my Lupus is being better controlled.
I work out 5 days a week & find that if I miss my work outs, I feel agitated & can't sleep. I'm actually going to be out the door for my morning work out when I finish this post & my morning protein shake.
So far, so good & I am happy to report that I feel stronger every day. I still struggle w/ getting all my protein in & have absolutely no creativity in the food department, but I'm working on it. I still drink 2 protein shakes a day & will continue to do so until I can get enough protein through food. I've found some wonderful food blogs (bariatric foodie & egg face) & plan to do some experimenting this week (save the children LOL).
My hubby will be leaving for Afghanistan in less than 2 weeks & he is my main source of support on this journey. I'd love to get to know some people who are going through the same struggles I am & I know this is the place to be. I've posted a bit on the RNY board, so some of you may have seen me around.
Anywho, sorry for the Monday morning ramble. Just wanted to say "Hi." Hope everyone has a happy & healthy day.
Christina
Welcome to the LW Board. We are a very supportive group.
Be sure to check out the Menus and Miles Roz posts everyday. Asked for recipes if you see something that looks good to you. Most of us still use protein shakes, we find that it keeps our protein up, we feel better and it is easier for us to stay on track. I am 2 1/2 years out and I still do 3 a day.
Glad to see that you are exercising.
Sounds like you are doing a great job.

This forum is great. We will be here for you. Probably not much help when the car breaks down, but for WLS it is the best! Good luck and see you around!
