Well I came home last night to a happy home.  The hugs and kisses were so worth it!  Now here comes my question, any creative ideas around the NPO issue?  Nothing by mouth until next week Thursday.  I know they have glycogen pops, but that doesn't always work for me.  I know it's all in my head, but damn really?????

WOW.  That is really rough.  You might try putting fluid in your mouth, swishing around and spitting it out.  I would think you would get dehydrated.  You may want to clarify that with your MD.

Are you on fluids/TPN @ home?
Can you @ least have ice chips?
I would definately clarify with the doctor.

So are you on IV or feeding tube?  Ya gotta be having something????  Throughout the years, I have had clients who were on feeding tubes and had nothing by mouth.  We used the swabs with them.

I've not done NPO for more than a few waking hours before labs.  I did have to wait all day (plus the night before) for my knee because surgery was backed up and it was miserable.  I got somekind of swab that helped at least with the dry mouth.

I am new to the lingo for WLS, I know that this may sound silly, but...what is NPO? Btw, I hope that you have some kind of fluid going into you, you really don't want to get dehydrated. Praying that all goes well with you.

nothing by mouth.  Not a normal event for WLS but she has had a rough time and been in the hospital.

Swinging Lizards for you to move beyond this soon.  My mom was on NPO for a long while, and it really bothered her.
Take care

When I was NPO this summer it was rough.  Almost 2 whole months was just miserable.  Those swabs didnt do much for me.  I would take water and swi**** around, then spit it out.  Also I would get the tiny ice from Sonic and suck on that.   It was hardly any fluid in my mouth, but helped so much.  Good luck, hopefully soon enough you can tolerate it.   I know my doctor said not to worry about fluids because my PEG tube intake was enough to cover that.  I think Ive read before you have a PEG tube.   Just keep your mouth wet, and that should help.
