Good Morning. Take off the blinders

I was just reminded that WLS bigotry or snobbery is alive and well. Not the all out surgery war kind of thing but the idea that we can't learn from each other because we don't all have the same surgery. Interesting and sad. We are mixed surgeries here, Vitalady's Grads board is mixed and my local support group is mixed--so, I don't get it. If it weren't for this board I would not have learned about Fage Greek yogurt from Bekah or the average expected weight loss for a lightweight from one of the vets when I first signed up here. Both of these gals had different surgeries from me, but they taught me things I can use. :)

I hope you'll comment today and I get a chance to respond. Running late for work but just wanted to say good morning and ask for your comments on this topic.

Wow, that is sad.  There is so much of the journey that is related, no matter what surgery you have.  I have learned from you and Liz, and our sleeve friends and have never felt like you treated me any different  because I had a different surgery.  Most of the time, I don't even remember who had what and have to see their profile.  The path is what is important, not the procedure.  Sure there are some specifics to each one, but mostly we are all in this together.

Morning Gina & Everyone.

I did a whole response and submitted it, but it did not appear.  Hopefully this won't show up twice.

I am so thankful for our board here.  I know I would not have been able to meet my goal and maintain without the support I received here.  I'm pretty sure my protein would be low and probably some other things because I kept getting nudges(LOL) from some of you regarding protein drinks.  Now I can't imagine my life without them!!

After our surgery, even though we have different types, we all still have to fight our food demons and challenges that we have in our lives.  That is what support/education is here for!

I love it when someone post a great find and I can try something different.  The NSV's kept me going while I was losing and sharing those and getting encouragement was great.

Day 3 of my training class.  Home this afternoon.  It has been a great training and I have learned so much-now to process it all and follow through with it!!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Learning from each other is one of the delights of this board.  Once in a while I stick my nose out of my comfort zone and read the main board.  Wow.  Even after the recent exodus of members, that place is often very cutting and down right unkind.

Hi Gina & everyone!

I never really pay that much attention to who had what. The support and education I have received here are priceless. So much of success, it seems, is behavior change and not going back to old ways and this board is wonderful help for that. Whatever type of surgery one has is just a tool (a great tool!), but if the "head" doesn't change the surgery won't matter in the long run.

I think we are all in this together and can learn from each other. So I don't know why people would get snobby about someone's choice of surgery???

Good morning!  I'm finally back home!

Anyway, I agree with the path is more important than the the procedure and you have to take the time to learn as we go down that that path.  And one has to learn that the path will deviate at times.  That's where the challange lies - in weighing out the good points and bad and following what's best.

I cannot imagine going through this without all my supportive friends.  And I truly cannot remember each and everyone's specific surgeries--only that we HAD surgery! HA  We're on this journey together--just some have been on it longer and have more wisdom than others about it.  And I appreciate all the helpful hints from everyone along the way.

This board is such a good support group no matter which surgery we have had.  There may be some slight differences but we all learn from each other and encourage each other.

I wouldn't have made it through the last few months without this board!  I don't care what kind of surgery anyone has had.  Everyone has helped me and I am very thankful for that!
