I need to whine!!!

My JAW hurts today...more than it has all last week. I'm not on any pain meds since I weaned myself off the percocet this past weekend.

I also have discovered that cold food, except my tea which tends to sit for awhile HURTS to eat so Italian Ice is out of the question. My mouth prefers warm foods. So I am drinking a LOT of chicken or beef broth, coffee in the morning, and hot cocoa at night.

My favorite soft food right now is chicken cooked in cream of mushroom soup. Or ham and bean soup. I tried veggie soup today and while the veggies did okay, the meat was tough...and I can't chew. AT ALL.

For those that don't know, I had jaw surgery on the 23rd of March for hypoxia/sleep apnea. And I have a MOUTH full of wires. They didn't actually wire me shut but they were prepared to do that. I do have to wear those rubber bands for braces when I am not eating.

I just need to whine today.

Ouch! Did they actually break your jaw in that surgery?

I'm not sure "break" is the right word, but yeah, they did. I have a 10 cm gap on both sides of my jaw upper and lower. There are titanium plates and screws holding it all together. But what hurts are the wires they put around my teeth. That's what is making it hard to manage anything cold.

I am finally able to actually feel the gap on my lower jaw, I've only seen it on X-ray til now.

i'm sorry you aren't having a good day.  I certainly had good and bad days with my knee with no appearant cause for the difference.  I would occasionally give myself permission to do a half pain pill and that usually helped.

Since it has been warm, I have tried drinking cold stuff again.  Sometimes it is ok, sometimes it really is not.  I don't mind doing warm to hot drinks all winter but I would really like an occasional cold something when it is hot outside.

Feel free to whine whenever you need to.  You deserve to after all you have been through with your mouth.

Thanks, Price. I don't whine often but today is worse than normal.

I would love to drink something cold but cool is the best I can manage. My breakfast each morning hasn't changed since I got home...I get a couple of sips of ice tea, then my coffee, then my broth.
