From the world according to eggface's blog :

Today my pals over at Bariatric TV posted a question on Facebook.

Motivation. What helps the most to keep you motivated?
mo·ti·va·tion
Noun: The reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. The general desire or willingness of someone to do something.

What motivates you?

I'll go first......
seeing the scale drop, being able to do things I've never done before-like shop in a regular store, sit in a chair without my fat hanging over- before/after pics, being healthy, being able to exercise without about dying LOL, feeling great, compliments that I've never gotten before.....

The scale motivates me every morning.

I also like how I look and feel.

Success breeds success for me. I'm very encouraged by my successes.  Sometimes I'll hide my head in the sand, but then realize I need to meet my challenge head on.  Once I conquer the problem, I usually want more.

Right now I'm wanting to accomplish more at the gym.  I'm amazed at how I feel after a good workout, and I'm motivated to do more.

Not having to use the CPAP machine,

More energy and interest in doing things.

Able to ski and participate in other activities.

Smaller clothes :)

No longer being pre-diabetic

Stronger and able to be more active. Able to participate in fitness classes that I never thought that I would be do (TRX and Spin come to mind)

WLS has been a gift and has given me my life back. I want to always treasure what I have been given and what I have worked so hard to attain. This is what motivates me, a second chance at a healthier life.

Taking my measurements and seeing the inches disappear.

Running the 3 flights of stairs at work and being able to talk when I get upstairs.

Having to wear a belt to keep my pants up.

I agree - this is the best thing I could have ever done for myself...because now I can be the real me!

The scale and fear of going back to living in that dark place called obesity.  Today the scale slapped me down for my bad behavior these past four or five days.  I almost did not weigh, but the scale keeps me accountable.

I am so mad at myself.  I ot to within 2.5 pounds, again, of my goal.  Subconsciously  told myself, I guess, I could have "that" because I was so close to goal.  Now this morning I am 8 pounds from my goal.  Oh this vicious cycle, and once again I'm mad at myself.

I had those same thoughts when I came home from vacation, scared and upset from being over my zone.  A few days of almost no carbs and high protein has me back to the zone, admittedly right at the top.  Get back on track and they will come back off.  Part of it is probably just fluid, you didn't really gain 5 lbs in a day or two.
