Lucky Me
I recall hearing that under 70 wasn't good. As far as I know it's never been that low before. All I ate to that point was a protein decaf and a protein pudding. This was about 3 hours later.
After that happened I recalled a few weeks ago the same thing happened when I was going shopping. I knew then that it had been a while since I had eaten so I ate something and felt better but I didn't connect it to RH.
Since this has only happened a few times I am hoping it won't be a big issue. I generally eat every few hours anyway but I cut out a few snacks because I am concerned about my weight going up too fast. I want to gain a little weight but I want to do it slowly, in a controlled manner and for some reason, overnight I have put on weight without a change in my eating habits, so I cut back to see what would happen and I have still gained. Right now I am eating about 1500 calories a day, which I was eating when I was losing weight. The strange thing is the weight gain started exactly on the day my headache started. Could it all be tied to blood sugar?
I really don't know what is going on with me and it's scary. I can't do much when I have these headaches, it is almost crippling, and I am taking pain meds but I don't want to use them too much, so I only use them when I can't stand it any more.

I doubt my headache problem is related to my surgery but how knows?

I agree with the pain meds. I am finally to a point that I am taking one before bed and one before PT and the rest of the time, doing without. Plus, I won't drive if I have had one and that means I am stuck at home.

I have had it several times - but it was mostly my fault. Mine does it when I eat too many carbs or too much sugar and then it drops quickly and I get shaky and sweaty. I had diabetes prior to surgery so I know that feeling.
I still try to drink protein drinks or eat every couple of hours over the day and always have a snack before I go to bed so it does not drop during the night.
I hope you can find a doctor to address and correct your issues.
Is the headache any better??
Swinging for you!!

Not sure what brings on RH for me since it has only happened twice now. I didn't eat anything different either time. Maybe going too long between eating? I do try to keep snacks handy so I don't go too long without eating.
What is best to take when you have one to bring up the blood sugar? I just happened to drink some milk this last time. I was thinking of keeping some nuts or cheese handy? And for carbs maybe some gluten free crackers? I heard some people use peanut butter crackers nearby, maybe I'll make some to keep with me. I would think a protein drink would be good because it has both protein and carbs. Or maybe my protein cookies since that has both protein and carbs in them, too.

If your body is used to you eating/drinking every few hours then it probably is reacting to you spacing it out. I don't have to remember my Protein drinks my body seems to remind me if it's been to long. I also get shaky, I feel a little disoriented, and my head feels really strange. At first it scared me but now I know I have to drink something quick.

I am a Type I diabetic and have to be very careful not to give myself hypoglycemia with my insulin injections. Orange juice is the absolute best thing to get your blood sugar up. Milk is the next best. Mostly protein and/or higher fat foods like nuts or protein shakes will not raise your blood sugar quickly enough if you are low and going lower.
An alternative is to keep glucose tablets or liquid handy. I keep some in my purse all the time. They don't spoil. They also taste fairly nasty which discourages me from eating them like candy. However, I believe that they have saved my life several times when I have been unable to get to food quickly enough.
Good luck to you, and wishing you the best!
