What I have learned on vacation

We leave tomorrow to head home. It has been a good break but I am ready to get back to my animals. Here is some of what I have learned while gone.

1. Disney Animal Kingdom is huge but I don't think as big as Magic Kingdom. Plan on being on your feet all day and walking a lot. I guess I thought there would be suttles in the park but there were not and the walking / standing was hard. You can take in a water bottle and some snacks to keep from spending a fortune on junk. I thought about Roz and the grandchildren and thought there is a good reason we don't have grandchildren. We could never keep up.

2. Today I went with the guys to play golf. Golf courses are pretty but not a lot of trees and shade and are hot. Because I don't play, I was about as bored as the guys were the days we were at the horse show. I think there is a reason we don't do more things together. I ended up snacking all day, although except for the pack of crackers, it was all protein.

3. Even when you go out to eat very late, you still aren't always going to get good service. We got to the resturant at 9 last night and still waited forever for food. It had been hours since I had eaten but I wanted real food, not another snack. When you are with others, you have a much harder time planning your meals when you need them. I want my routine, not just more snacks to get me to a meal.

4. Other than our days in the car, I have kept up a good exercise routine and been working my knee. I'm hoping that will help with the odd eating.

5. We have eaten a good bit ine the condo and that has been good. It is easy to pack a few things that keep you from having to eat out all the time. Our NUT said early on in this process, even if you eat the same thing that you cook or that you eat out, eating out has much more sodium and about 500 more calories. Not sure that is 100% true (what that NUTs say is?) but it makes sense.

6. I was concerned about how bad my arms looked and wearing sleeveless shirts. I looked around and decided first noone knows me and second, I couldn't believe what folks wear in public. Oh my goodness with boobs and butt cheeks hanging out, I was at least not exposing that. I wore my sleeveless shirts and never thought of it again.

7. I keep thinking of things. I have to either get a new swim suit or buy boobs. The predetermined boob space on my suit isnt where I am and is 3 x bigger than I am. This may take some work to figure out.

I think this is the oddest I have eaten for the longest number of days. Wonder what the scale will say when I get home. I'm thinking it won't be happy. I haven't gone this long without weighing since surgery and can you tell, even at a yr and half, I am not very confident about being able to eat and maintain.

I don't know if I will do it at home around anyone, but it sure felt good in the heat.

At least if the scales are angry, I know what to do and have support here to follow through.  Thanks.

The weird thing is Price, even being surrounded by all that food on the cruise, I felt less obsessed about food and eating. I have thought about this some since my return home and I think me and stress (work) really affects me in a negative way at times. I am trying to figure out ways to self care WITHOUT food. This is an ongoing journey.....for life. LOL.

Sounds like you had a great time, and you are right about the arms. I see so much worse on the beach and street than worrying about my arms.
The bathing suit issue can be cleared upby buying a tankini. Smaller top with bigger bottom. I had to do this when I went to Phoenix this year. Made me feel alot better!!! So glad you had a great time.

I'll have to check the tankin idea.  I'm ok as long as I stay in the water but when I get out, the whole boob thing is pretty weird.

I feel your pain!~ I just got back from a teacher conference. Very much tried to stick to the plan but the breakfast they offered every day were basically CARBS. I ended up eating a little fruit and drinking a boxed protein shake poured over ice.  I was gone for 4 days everytime we went out to eat I stuck to grilled chicken with salad except one night I got a 6 ounce sirloin and ate half of it. I can totally relate to the bathing suit problem. I have gone to a tankini too. That way I don't show my surgical scars. Mine are awful!! I have a huge crocked cross from my breast bone to my belly button. The tankini allows me to get a smaller top and bigger bottom. My hips are still on the larger side. It seems my bubble butt has blown back into proportion to my body. I was hoping it would stay gone forever. Next week I am going to NJ for 3 days to pick up my mom and drive her back home. I am weak when I go there because there are alot of foods I don't get to eat here. I am ready to see my mama though. Glad you had fun on your trip.
Nothing tastes as good as this feels!

Price,
Sounds like you had a great vacation, but like me are ready to be home and back in your routine!!
We are going to Disney in November and taking my whole family including the 2 DGD's.

It is so hard to stay in our comfort zone when we are away from home especially if we have to go out to eat in places we are not familiar with.  Sounds like you did good with that.

For the swimsuit, I bought a separate top and bottom.  I have to wear the board shorts because my legs look so bad.  That allowed me to get a smaller top also.

I like to weigh everyday so I feel in control.  I don't take the scales with me when I go out of town.

Have a safe trip home!!
