Good Morning. I got this

By the end of the week I just might have figured out the timing on this commute thing. Not that I want to do it every day...OMG no! It took an hour and a half to get home last night and they cut us loose early to "beat" the traffic. Umm...there is no such thing as "beat the traffic" around DC. lol  Anyway, we, my 2 riders and me, are hanging in there and making the best of it.  Thanks for the well wishes and encouragement. Jody, I sure hope they can move you guys closer to you. Maybe you will want to rethink making everyone drive in to one location and decide to telecommute and do lots of Live Meetings over your computers. lol  I don't wish this commuting thing on anyone.

Y'all have a great Wednesday. What's on your to-do lists today? Don't forget to post pictures of things you want to share.

When I lived in that area, I worked in Fairfax and lived in Germantown. I worked 6:30 to 3 most of the time.  If I had a late patient it guaranteed me 1-2 hr commute home.  My husband worked downtown and holds the record.  One commute it started snowing and it took him 5 hours to get home!  We don't miss the traffic that's for sure.  Did you at least get to see some cherry blossoms?

Telecommute for the team has been discussed, but because its a new team it won't be considered for at least a year.

Today I want to go check out the Chantilly offices then back home to wait for my new furniture.  I have a LOT to do for work, so I need to buckle down and get it going. Waiting for a phone call from the Facility Manager... if I don't hear from her within an hr or 2 I'll just go over there anyway.

I need to find some sheers and valances for various windows in the house.  The bedroom has that huge bank of windows - I have a LOT of burgundy sheers from the condo, but don't think they'll quite "go" in there.  I want to get new bedding - but not in a huge hurry.  So we'll see...

I broke down and turned the heat back on last night.  Night before I froze my a** off.  I was trying to hang in there until today to warm the place up and open windows, etc but just didn't make it.  Guess its not time yet to hope eternal spring/summer are here.

I'm so glad I don't have a big commute.   My longest was 1/2 hr and there was no traffic, just had to get from the farm into town.  Without traffic, you can at least use the time to get your mind ready for the change to or from work.

We are still in Orlando.  The guys are playing golf today and I may go and watch.  Or stay here and go to the pool.  last night we went to the Arabian Nights dinner show with tons of horses.  It was well done and even the guys enjoyed it.  I came back and went to the pool/hot tub to soak my knee.  The chairs didn't let my feet touch the ground and it is hard with them hanging for hours.  I've got to be more concous about getting my bending in.  When I went to ride the bike Monday, I couldn't go all the way around again so in just a few days, I had lost bend.  I know I can get it back, it is just constant work.  So yesterday, I worked on it, took the stairs instead of elevators, etc.

Tomorrow is Disney.

Anytime day or night, if you're on the beltway, it's guarenteed to be busy.  In addition to the commute, whenever I've been to Washington, I've had to add an hour to the projected travel time, just to make sure I'd be there on time.  So even if the commute went well, I still had to leave very early....

Good luck!

Morning Gina and everyone.

When we were in Washington last week, my BIL said we needed to get out of there by 3pm to avoid the heavy traffic - we didn't make it and ended up sitting for a very long time.  I think everyone but him took a nap!!

Work today, drama practice at church tonight and at lunch I need to go see if I can find a shaw/sweater to wear with my Easter dress since it is sleeveless.  I got it at a consignment shop in Richmond.  I sure wish we had shops like that here.  I also need to pick up some fat free creamer for my coffee - so looks like lunch hour will be shopping hour!!

Time to work - everyone have a great day.

 Hi Gina,
My husband went to Georgetown  Med. school while I worked at Georgetown Park Mall when it first opened. I walked a mile to work and back over the Key Bridge for 4 years. I wish I was as thin as I was then !!!!  When I lived in Delaware, I drove to  Fairfax Virginia taking my daughter to ice skating coaches. We left at 4:30 AM to beat the morning rush, most going to D.C. I slept in the car while she trained. Glad those days are over !!!! We are moving this week to a neighborhood 5 min from my husbands hospital. He is soooo happy about the short drive, especially in the Michigan lake effect endless snow.  I work at home.  ;-)

I don't know how people can stand doing that every day!!!    My niece lives in Hanover, PA and commutes to DC every day.  She is having her 3rd baby on Friday and looking forward to being on Maternity leave.  She says houses are cheaper in PA but I can't imagine the commute every single day is worth saving any amount of money (it must be alot to even consider it).

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

I hear ya on the commute!!! I work in Cowtown Columbus and its a haul some days mainly due to the idiot drivers. Lord help us if there is a fender bender on the side of the highway.

Most days I crank up the radio and sing my heart out. Glad I'm alone!

I don't think I could drive in a big city!!!!!

Meg
