Good Morning. WLS for Dummies

No, this isn't an insult, it's a book recommendation. It may not be as thorough as we DSrs and Sleevers would like but it's a pretty good reference none the less. It has good info on how to get through the insurance hoops, general pros and cons of the more popular WLS types, and decent recipes at the end.

Do you have some good references you'd like to recommend?

Barbara Thompson, Finding the thin person within. She writes about life post surgery and I think she gives a very accurate account of the changes we face.

I purchased WLS for Dummies and enjoyed it.  I still use it ocassionally to look at some recipes.
I also purchased Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray it is mostly a recipe book - I don't use it as much anymore - I should pull it out and look through it.

I bought two of Geneen Roth's books - Why Weight - A guide to Ending Compulsive Eating - it is a workbook - I don't think I ever got very far in it.
Breaking Free from Emotional Eating - it was good and had some good tips in it.

I found The Thin Commandments to be full of good ways to deal with the head hunger... the diet plan is all wrong for us, but the head stuff was valuable enough that I bought 3 copies, and keep loaning them out.

Eat It Up! by Connie Stapleton. I read it before surgery and have gone back to it several times since. I gave it to a friend who had surgery today, she said it really helped her get her mind and soul in the right place.
