Good morning. Does anyone elses boss email you at 5AM?

Bingo, Price, and that's why I finally asked my boss for a transfer if the parent (or principal) actually mentions anything.  I've been putting up with her **** for the past 7 years, and it IS ****  Unfortunately, none of the other psychs will want to go there, so I don't know how it will all work out, but the violation of confidentiality as regards staff members is supposed to be as big a problem as that of students.

This principal is very unprofessional, but is skilled at getting great publicity for our school.  Although our test scores (apparently the only thing that counts these days) are in the same statistical range as the other 4 schools in our age level in this district, she gets a lot of positive news space for how "strong" our school is, which brings in a lot of parents who fall for the guff.  Then she browbeats her teachers to get them to produce, unlike the other buildings where there is the same end result but a more collegial atmosphere.

So we'll see what happens.  I don't know if I'm hoping that it's true and I can leave, or that it's not and I stay in my closet (literally - my office was the janitorial closet, and according to the health department, is unfit for human occupancy with the door closed so I have to beg to use the conference room to work with kids because my office is unsafe.  How much fun is that?)

Ugggh - enough of her!  Had a great baked chicken thigh with a bite of potatoes for dinner, and will finish up with fruit and veggie later on tonight!  That's MUCH more pleasant to think about!

Oh lots of emails all hours of the day and night. What gets me more is when the upper echelon doesn't take their vacation and work 24/7 --- then stuff gets thrown during meetings, people screamed at, etc. wonder why I'm looking for a new gig?????

Trying to de-hoard at home, too! The film crew frim TOC is going to show up any day . I welcome the extra hands...

We email back and forth as we think of things.  I'm probably more guilty of emailing my boss when she is off than she is me unless it is related to something I do.

We went to DC today and had a great time.  It is nice to go with someone who can tell you about the various sites.  It was a beautiful day.

I think we are sticking close to their house tomorrow to rest up for our trip home Wednesday.  Thursday back to work....  We have had a great trip.

The downside of our new tech society. Ain't it grand? The same things that freed us from the office now keep us chained to it by a wireless ball and chain.

My understanding is that proper etiquette is emails or calls from 2 hours before working hours to 2 hours after, making your work day a possible 12 hours.  I have yet to see anybody observe such etiquette though. Weekends should be totally off limits!

One good thing about being a bedside nurse is when you are off duty, you are off duty, Of course as Italian Spice says, they are always begging for us to work more. Almost every day off I get I am awakened at 0430 or 0500 to see if I can work extra. Because I am old, I can rarely go back to sleep. We are also getting texts all day about how short we are going to be if we don't work extra.

I can't even get my boss to email me DURING work. It's very weird.

When I started my latest position I made it part of the deal that there will be no calls, pages, emails or texts when I am off duty unless it is a matter of life and death (literally).  SInce I work nights, weekends and holidays that no one else wants, my boss has been very respectful of the boundary.
