NEWBIE and very confused (sleevers)

Hi, I am 3 years and 2 months out and definitely can not eat "normally".  I can do 2 to 3 ounces of dense protein and a few bites of veggies.  I can also not eat tons of slidery type food either.  I can do  5 ounces of yogurt and cottage cheese.  Now popcorn I can almost eat a regular size bag of microwave type... maybe 3/4 of it.  I still have no hunger at all unless I go more than 6 hours and then it's more of a lightheaded nauseated feeling.  Definitely not typical hunger pangs.  I have not gained any weight and I'm 5'7 ish and weigh 132/134.  I am and always have been a huge exerciser so that's never been a problem for me.  Maybe that's why my maintenance has been easier.

I do notice that food just doesn't appeal nearly as much to me as it did pre-op.  I still eat a bit of chocolate almost every day but now 1 piece is enough and I can easily walk away.  It's just easier to push away from the table now...you'll see.

Good luck to you

Laura

I have constantly worried about the same things over and over...and reading these posts has helped ALOT.  I too can lose the weight but never keep it off.  I can portion control for so long, but if I have a bad day or some kind of emotional issue then it's like I can sit and literally finish off an entire cake by myself.  So I wanted the VSG to help me avoid these situations.  They don't happen often, but even a few months of depression (dealing with life's problems) - eating that way will cause me to easily gain 40-50 pounds... so I'm hoping that by eating well, and following the small portions and guidelines that everyone knows- that during those rare times when I wanna eat that entire cake- the sleeve will prevent me from doing that.  I plan on checking out that book to see if it might help me deal with emotional eating.  I don't even think I have a problem, per se, because I can usually do things besides eat- but every few years, somethign might happen where I find myself temporarily hitting the food for comfort and it's like overnight the weight is all back on!  I really hope that the sleeve helps me avoid that.

Laura, I see you also got sleeved by John Gonazalez.  He's the one doing my surgery too!  Were you happy with him?
