Modern Pentathalon

There is an olympic qualifier for Modern Pentatalon in Charlotte NC this weekend and my best friend is the co-ordinator of the riding phase.  I am headed there this morning and will be scribing for the judge today for the final women's competition and tomorrow for the final men's competition.  35 countries are represented so this is a really big deal.  I've packed my protein powder, bars and pizza chips (yumm) and should be fine, food and drink wise.  Now if my knee will cooperate with 3 hrs of driving back and forth and all the sitting-standing I will be doing.  I think I will pack my ice bag for tonight.  Ya'll have a good weekend.

Swinging critters for your knee!
Sounds exciting to be able to see some of the best riders in the world! Hope you have a great time!
I need to look up these pizza chips, sounds interesting.
Ice pack sounds like a good idea.

It would seem like there would be some of the best riders in the world but in fact, it is the best all round atheletes.  Riding is the last phase and they have to have done well enough in the other phases, running, swimming, shoting, fencing, to even get to ride.  Only the top 35 women and men get to ride.  They ride horses who they have never even seen before Wed and have never ridden before today or tomorrow.  Because of that, and the fact that most of them are more committed to the other phases, I understand there will probably be some pretty scarey rides.  They will be jumping a 3'3" course of probabaly 20 jumps.  I'm just hoping for everyone, people and horses to be safe.

 Price,

I hope the trip was not too painful and that you had a great time.  I imagine it might be scary to watch riders who have never seen their horses before!  That's why I find it hard to watch amateur ice skating.  It's so scary when they fall!
