Going on first cruise.....need suggestions!

So, I am going on my first week long cruise soon. I am looking forward to this and the
break from work. I have some questions though. I still eat very protein focused and low
carb. I have no clue if I dump so will be avoiding anything with sugar. We have flexible
dining and will sometimes eat in the nice dining room and other times in the buffet type
area. I know I can always focus on whatever protein is offered and grilled chicken is usually
an option.

Do they have microwaves available in the food areas? I usually need to warm up my protein
coffee and am hoping there is a microwave. I really don't eat breakfast so unsure if I will try
eggs, etc or not. I have mixed feelings about being around all this food.

Any helpful hints appreciated.

p.s. all new summer clothes bought plus bathing suits. I got a lot of capris at thrift stores but bought new tshirts since everything from last summer is too big. My legs are NOT attractive but I bought a few nice cover ups and a sarong. I am TRYING to remember I am not obese anymore but those negative thoughts still creep up.
p.s.s. I bought my first "little black dress" in my life. I liked it so much I bought another!

I took protein powder and a shaker cup with me and had room service bring me coffee and milk in the mornings. The buffets are easy to eat high protein but the formal dining room comes with a lot of variety you may have to use creativity to eat just high protein. We had a great time and really enjoyed the warm weather.

i did what Gina said - ordered coffee every morning to be delivered to the room - was awesome!  So you can take the milk, mix your protein with it into a slurry and pour the hot coffee over it.

I found a LOT of pasta on the buffet and at times found it difficult to find something to eat.  There's always salad and veggies if you find the protein options not appealing.  AND - there was always a sugar free dessert - usually cookies and of course I indulged in a few.  I stopped dumping about a year ago, so I know I was safe.  If you're unsure or sensitive to sugar substitutes, stay away..

Congrats on the clothes and LBD!! Woohoo - have a great time, take lots of pictures and show us!

How exciting, especially the clothes.  I still don't think I will wear shorts or tank tops other than at home but I have gotten pretty brave about my swim suit with all the pool work I have been doing.  I figure no one really cares but me so have at it.

I mixed my slurry, do take your shaker bottle, then went on deck for my decaf and just added which ever to whatever.  I've actually started drinking my morning decaf from my shaker bottle so I just added the decaf to it.  Eating otherwise wasn't hard.  I did find that I couldn't take even a bite or 2 from each of the 5 courses in the dining room and eat all my protein.  I just had to let some go, which was very hard for me.  Sometimes the choices where there, but not what I wanted like one afternoon the deck had hamburgers and hot dogs.  I could have eaten one or part of one for my 4pm meal but choose a protein bar instead.  Do take some protein bars or babybell cheese or something you know is safe if you need to eat and the rest of your party isn't ready.  Althought I still eat much less than most folks, I eat way more often and it helps to have something when you need it.

You should have a great time.  Hurray for vacations.

Thanks Price! We need to get together when you are healed up!
I do plan on taking a good amount of protein bars as I get hungry every few hrs. I also
intend to take some ready to drink protein drinks and a little cooler so I can take those
for outings as well. I also will bring some ziplocs as I can hopefully bring some cold
cuts from buffet for outings too. I am excited about the trip....this is something I wouldv'e
avoided pre-surgery; we have some fun outings such as swimming with sting rays (scary
for me!) and cave tubing. We also have a balcony so I will be reading and I cannot wait to
work out on the ship.

Have a fabulous time!  I'm heading out on a cruise myself.  My ship has an ice skating rink and a boxing ring.  I'm going to get a lesson and try both--definitely NOT something I would have tried pre-surgery.  I like everyone's idea to bring the blender bottle and protein to add to the coffee.  I'm going to do that, too.

When we come back, let's compare!
