Good Morning. Staying up-to-date

I do know the feeling. :(

And worse, I'm in IT with a degree in computer science, so my expected level of competence is higher than average and everybody else in my profession knows that because of my age, there's no way I'm up to speed with the 20 somethings.

sigh

I did my undergrad in civil engineering. Maybe some day that'll encourage Home Depot to hire me to work in the building materials section. LOL

Same here.  I had the same job for 8+ years, working at home, which was perfect, but while I was doing the same thing everyday new things were coming out and replacing the old.  Then my job was shipped off to India and pretty much made obsolete and after 20 + years doing what I was doing no one is hiring.
So it's back to school to learn the new stuff with this old brain to make myself competitive with the kids who have been doing this stuff since they were born.

I'm right there with you .... I have to learn ISO 20K and get my team certified within a year.  I know NOTHING about it and will be feet first in very soon.

I'm moving this weekend... tomorrow unloading the trailer.  I've contracted with a moving company to bring the rest down - I just don't have time or the gumption to do it.  The rest should be here at the end of March - now... if you're so inclined - I could take you up on your offer to help then.  The stuff I have now is only a fraction of that...

It will be nice though to do it in steps, that way its not quite so overwhelming.

Oh, I love it when my job sends me to classes!

This weekend my kid's school has an Open House so I'm  making more monkey cake pops to take to that. Then I'm going to it. LOL

Sunday I'm volunteering handing out cups of water to racers in the AM. Not sure what I'm doing in the PM.

I wish they would send us to class. They will reimburse us for the cost of taking online courses up to a limit but we can't work on anything during business hours. :(

I know how you feel. I've back in school for a long time (11 years) so I know all about the nose being stuck in a textbook. I returned to school in my late 30's. I know it can be a bit overwhelming if you're not used to homework and extra projects. So, here is some advise from a...let's say "seasoned student." Try to not wait till the weekend. When you get home from work, unwind a bit then work on school stuff for 1/2 hour to an hour before dinner. Later on before bed, do just a little more. If you do this everyday, the weekend won't be so crowded with your homework. It might be a good idea if your work set up practical for it, take a flash drive to work with you. You can possibly add to any paper you have to write during your lunch break. I have done it this way since I started working at my current job (6 years), and even if I can only get 15-20 minutes of writing done during lunch, it still helps me not get bogged down.  If you find yourself ready to just scream from the maddness of it all, let me know & I'll try to help you wade through it.
